What does it take to get sponsored now a days

I made a tall tee company and sponsored myself. I'm on my own international pro team. This is the obvious solution. Extra points if you have a website.

a robust social media budget for self-promotion including but not limited to a blogging team, webisodes, facebook fan page, a twitterati...

Consistency, marketability, personality, having your head on straight, ability to get the next generation stoked on the product you represent and, oh ya I guess it helps if you are good at skiing with unique style too.

Something that makes you stand out from the thousands of other kids that send in their edits, be it style, marketability or something else. Have to make yourself stand out above the rest.

your own bitch that films you.... and good cam....another bitch that edits

big clothes, gang affiliation, hand signals, long skis( center mounted), ,smoke heaps of weed, rep the rasta colors, throw crazy parties, lack an education

thats just a few..hope that helped my friend

This is the legit answer. I think Marketability and Getting people stoked is the true key - companies are looking for people who can sell their skis, that doesn't necessarily need to be the best skier, but you do need to be at least decent or it doesn't make sense.

I hate when people say stuff like - he doesn't deserve to be sponsored...clearly he has an ability that a particular company is looking for so yeah, he does deserve it.

Oh, and you should be at least be decently proficient with these. Minding them could really set you a part as they're too often overlooked.

it's cool, jokes are always funnier upon explanation.
knee pads make countless hours on your knees tolerable....on your knees....

Make an edit with a few frames of porn, the word awesome, and usain bolt spliced in as subliminal messaging. They will think you are a balling champion and pay you to rep them.
Also, win competitions.

a lot of it has to do with who you know, obviously you have to be a fairly talented skier but if you can get tight with some of your local shops and area reps your gonna have a way better chance of getting hooked up than some kid who just sends in a video

sponsorships are no longer about how good you are at skiing... its all about how well you can kiss butt, suck industry dick, and who you know

The bottom line is that you have to be good enough to convince someone you'll make it at some point. No company wants to put money into a skier that doesn't have a chance of making it big.
Sure, having connections can help you meet people. And knowing the right person gets you a Dew Tour qualie spot. Being a nice guy might get your local shop or Tall T company to help you out. But if you really want to get something with a company that matters, you have to be good enough and have the right work ethic to convince a TM that one day you'll be one of the best. That's it.

it took me a second to get the knee pad joke, but after i did it made this a lot funnier.. and gross.
