What does gunnie season mean??

Gunnie is the term used in the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF) referring to an armourer or aircraft tradesperson who maintains, aircraft ordnance, weapons, ejection seats or any other device that contains explosive material used in the RAAF. A major function of their trade is explosive ordnance demolition (EOD) and the safe removal of unexploded bombs (UXB's).Fiercely independent of the other aircraft trades, "Without Armament there Is no need for an Airforce" has been their motto since Lord Trenchard uttered those famous words prior to World War I.Their web site and the "Australian Armourers' Association" can be found at this address.
