I thought I remembered seeing a thread on this a while back, can't find it through the searchbar though. Interesting topic, what do you want and look for in your outerwear? Anything from price to specific features..

 
quality craftsmanship, taped zippers, 100% waterproof, re-enforced heels, magnets>velcro, good warranty, style.

good quality thick material

plain, not obnoxious

super reinforced heals/cuffs (always ruin my pants stepping on them)

warm but with vents

easy to move around in.

Magnets instead of velcro. Also wrist gaiters with thumb-holes inside the sleeve, I had a holden jacket with this and it solves the problem of having a gaper gap between jacket and glove 100% of the time no matter how much you stretch or extend your arm. Another great thing is jacket to pants zippers, keeps the pow out.
 
Something legitimately waterproof, or stop putting that shit on the label. Every fucking jacket and pair of pants are waterproof these days, yet if it snow's for an hour without even falling you start getting wet in most of the stuff. It's retarded.

Don't say waterproof unless it's for real. Or I'm going to beat them up.
 
i ski mainly on mountains that have been damaged by radioactive fallout. so material that can withstand the constant bombardment of unstable isotopes would be nice. also adequate eye protection and an oxygen mask
 
something serious:
i go for the functional aspect. but it doesnt have to be hight-tech waterproof/cold protection. just basics in these things. price should also be somewhat: pants under 150 and jackets under 200. i dont care about brand, but a funky design that is kinda unique and i dont run into 20 people on the hill or on the streets with the same shit.
jacket: a hole for ipod earphones or so is cool, but not necessary. and yeah, a big pocket inside. pockets outside are cool, but i dont need more than 3. one on the left upper arm. some cord at the bottom to keep the snow out and wide sleeves so you dont fuck with gloves.
pants: put a pocket if you want, but i dont care. decently baggy and a zipper to ventilate.

With my pants, most of the above and then size adjusters on the inside cause the outside ones always seem to come undone when I slide on my back and such.
 
Its cause most tech pieces have no style cause most people that use them are over 35 and in the back country.
I hope to assist in changing this.

 
yeah, this is a must feature. Now when i am getting ready for my long walks around Chernobyl i can just keep my ski gear on!
 
really long please. i am so sick of 2xl coming to my waste. fuck that shit. i am tall. i want tall shit. and obvi all the things that make jackets/pants dope..waterproofing. insulation. etc
 
Little to no functionality. Ridiculously long and baggy, we're talking to my ankles. Has to look like I'm wearing an oversized trash bag. Also penises.
 
Well aside from the fit, I would say an underestimated feature would be conveniently placed pockets. having easy access to your goodies is veryy nice (especially with mittens) It doesnt need to be covered in pockets, but a big chest pocket or 2 is always nice. Also magnets instead of velcro as some people have said
 
some kind of buckle/clasp/strap thing on the ankle so you can roll up your pants a bit and have them stay up so you dont step on them while wearing shoes. Also a pocket on the inside along the main zipper, but put another little zipper there so you can get to the inside pocket without opening up your whole jacket to change music.
 
Whoa shit first time I read this I thought it said underwear. That made the responses pretty funny.
But yeah, waterproofness, comfy fit, pow skirt, wrist gaitors, etc. Oh yeah and obviously it's gotta look sick if I'm dropping much $$ on it.
 
Jacket-stash pockets, slightly taller fit for those of us over 6 ft

Pants- super durable cuffs(pants i have now have a ton of cuts on the left not sure what im doing but there not holding up)
 
Jacket- Tall (like mid thigh length) green. waterproof and breathable.
To be honest my Airblaster Colouring book is perfect haha.
Pants- How my saga fits. same waterproof/breathable but with more durability at the bottom of the legs.
