What do you think of Soft Boots?

what do you think of the new soft boots out? better than the atomic jib boots? would the soft boots provide enough support?

i like a hard fairly stiff boot personally

i agree, i like the soft boot blades better...i have had three and loved em all...i am just agraid that these wont have enough support, right now i am leaning to the atomics new park boot

I think that if you don't mind breaking your ankles every so often then they are fine.

I want to try them out first. The kneissl boots have a dial that you can switch from ski mode to walk mode. That's amazing for instructors cuz half the time your running/skiing at the base of the hill. I just wonder how good the performance is but I guess you have to sacrifice performance for comfort.

Performance < Comfort? No way Jose. New schooling is all about style and performance. If you want comfort, u can just stick to old school and die of old age. Shit, I hate those fuckin' soft boots.

the soft boots *are* stiff. The Rossi Soft 1 is a *race boot.* Just because the inner boot is soft, it does not mean that the boots themselves are not stiff. For example, my old aggro skates were K2 softboot fattys. They were just as tigid and torsionally stiff as any hard-shell aggro skate.

thats true...the k2 modx speedskates and 250 aggressive skates are top skates for both markets and are equally as stiff as competing skates...and think about the salomon 1080 boots, they have a softer flex than other boots

The 1080 boots are soft as all hell. With super shaped skis, boot stiffness doesn't really matter that much.

The only problem is that if I crash in the pipe, my boots will flex further than my ankles...

ouch...

'I did!' The man excitedly replied.

Ouch.... the only advange I see to have super flexible boots is that your skis take off less often.

a kid i ski with uses 'hard' snowboarding boots instead of ski boots some times, he says they totally stopped his shin bang, they look ugly as hell, but if it eliminates shin bang, im in

Also, with the way ski technology is going, lateral stiffness is more important than forward flex (unless you're super-g)

Yeah, soft boots are totally supposed to get rid of shin bang.

I got the 1080 boots, and I don't even know what shin bang is, so it must be doing something...
