What do you think of my car.......

But a rear wing on a fwd car is useless, it's adding downforce to the back wheels which don't really do anything. If it was on the front end of the car it would actually help and be pretty quick around corners, but that would look way too ridiculous for anyone to do in real life.

This picture comes to mind:

although he does have a rear spoiler on it too.

Maybe it does help a tiny bit. I don't know if OP has it set-up correctly though, or still if it's even worth it to have just a big rear spoiler on it. It seems like to create enough downforce to actually have this be useful in corners, you would have to be going pretty fast in a corner, like OP claims. I don't know, I'm done arguing about it. It's what he likes so that's all that matters.

son of a bitch you stole my picture! good thing i checked the second page to see if it was posted already.

OP i have an STI, and they say the stock wing is functional:

The results are 60 lb of downforce at 100 mph, and 140 lb of downforce at 150 mph

so unless your FWD failboat is fucking moving its not really going to do a damn thing. Nice car, keep zee rice at home tho

Haha sorry for stealing your picture. That's just what I thought of though, and that's what I thought the car would have to be set-up like for functionality.

Like I said before though, the fun of cars is to customize them how you want them, and that's what the OP did so I'm alright with that.

I would personally like the car more though without the wing. Just my opinion. Also, since it doesn't do anything as bermbuster just explained, I wouldn't try to claim it does either because then people will just laugh at you and not get it. It is a clean car though.

Out of curiosity, what engine mods have you done to it?

Gots nothing on my 01 Sunfire. Soooped up with stickers, subs etc. spoiler came with it whaaaaaattup

double post..when looking again, honestly man.. that wing? From some of the stuff you have done it looks like you know how to do a Honda right then...what happened.

yeah I was gonna be all like wow that shit's gay but then I realized "oh he probably races his car, cool."

still don't really like the wing on a fwd car

I don't think the op races he's most likely just a poser. He still hasn't answered the question about the mods which I'm curious to know.

sweet, me too bro.

never breaks down. only thinks i have had to fix is an exhaust and a wheel speed sensor. i only have 138,000km on it. the engine will probably outlast the body at this rate.

oh really? so all the acura racing series and mazda3 series don't have any spoilers and this dude is just doing it for show?

^Hahahah that guy just shit on the nitro that was great

But OP I have the same car in black, mine came with the Type R wing but I am surely taking it off when I get the money because it's pretty oversize. I like the pics so far though, do you have a build thread on CRSX?

OP your car is sexy.... i dont like a big wing on RSX's though. i have 2 friends with RSX's and 1 has a tinyish wing and i like it a lot better but your interior beats any RSX ive ever seen. for sure

yes in races people use spoilers on fwd cars for circuit races but they mainly have the front splitter. since aerodynamics takes affect the rear spoiler pushes the rear of the car down pushing the front up resulting in loss of grip, power, and fuel efficiency. a front splitter though would keep the front down. without a splitter a rear spoiler is pointless.

Well, first I just want to say again, that in my first post I was a little harsh and I felt bad about it. The fun of cars is to customize them to how you want, so I said sorry and didn't mean to hate on OP's.

Although I still believe that I think OP thinks this spoiler is doing more than it actually is.

First, for any downforce to be effective at all, you have to at least be going 60mph. Definitely easy to go 60, and I can see how sometimes on a track OP would be getting a little bit of downforce from it.

Except I don't think that he's going to be going 60mph through corners, to have the spoiler creating downforce to correct the rear-end from sliding out. Like he claims. Also, for the rear wing to be most effective, you should have some sort of frontal downforce on the car. So, that all the tires are getting downforce and having that added traction on each tire.

Honestly that's just what I've read about it. I haven't experienced or dealt with the physics of it, so I could definitely be wrong here.

Yeah you're right I definitely should have, sorry.

Normally on this site I'll say some smart ass comment, then in a separate paragraph right after I'll explain seriously my reasoning's for saying what I said, but in a lot nicer way. Also I'll do that so that hopefully the OP knows that I wasn't seriously just out to be a dick, because I never want to just be a jerk for no random reason on this site.

Again, I don't mean to make excuses or anything either, but my posts on the first page were literally my last posts right before I fell asleep. I wasn't thinking very clearly. Sorry, I hope you guys understand my reasoning about what I said first now.

I also want to say again, that there is a good possibility that I'm wrong about my last post too.

I don't want to sound like a know it all or anything either, it's just what I read about it.

Thanks.

really? how do the rear wheels not do anything? the rear is just as important as the front of the car in terms of handling.

assuming this guy knows what he's doing a rear wing could be pretty helpful. you need to drive FWD cars differently than RWD cars. more entry speed, more rotation on entry to help the car set more neutral when you get back to power, because FWD cars understeer under acceleration. having more rear end grip/stability, would allow you to carry more entry speed with the same amount of rotation on entry.

to put it simply, no rear wing + big entry speed=big slide. rear wing + big entry speed= stable rear end.

this is assuming this guy knows anything about what he's doing. the wing could hurt his cars performance or it could help it, totally depends on the cars setup.

I'm still waiting for the OP to chime in about his suspension set-up. I"m pretty sure any car will reap bigger benefits in the corners on a decent coilover set-up with stiffer swaybars as opposed to a huge wing. My car sure did.

well its well done but you have to love when people put traction devices on the back of front wheel drive cars
