so i pose this question to everyone here.

What Do You Look For In A Ski Shop?

Please post using some sort of bulleting if possible.

There Is No Need To Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word.
anyyways back to the point, i look for things in a ski shop such as-skis-ski gear-ski accessories-ski movies-ski related items

merchandise that your normal everyday ski shop doesn't carry is what i look for. Seems like all the shops around here have the same basic outline as to what brands to stock the shelves with. I want to support my local shops, but i end up buying online cause they don't carry what i like for the most part.

the thing i care most about is how much knowledge the people at the store have. don't like people who are talking shit and don't know anything.

i look for the variety they have. one of the best ski shops ive been to us Sports Creel. they have pretty much everything and have kickass employees.

-guys in it who ski and know what they're talking about

-selection of useful products; the place by me in DE sells those huge rossi pow skis and obsetheds while I'm not totally against it I can't see most people having a use for those here.

Selection

Customer Service

Knowledgeable Techs

Reasonable Prices

Multifaceted (snow, skate, street wear)

Cool events (art shows, premieres, events)

Close to home I guess?

Pretty much everything that evo has, haha.

I like it when the employees are cool, the gear selection is good, and I like it when they have a lot of events like hosting ski movies or having big sales

Good Gear At Good Prices And Gear Related To Freestyle Skiing Unlike Some Of The Shops Near Me Who Do More Of The Alpine Skiing Approach. I Don't Mind It, But I Would Like The Different Types Of Skiing To Be All In One Place. Also Good Prices On Binding Placements And More Would Be Nice Too

- prices that stay competitive with online prices

- variety of skis and boots that fit the needs of freestyle, recreational, and expert/racing

- employees who know their shit

- events

- stickers if you purchase something -- this is how my local shop works, and its awesome. you get to pick out a good quality sticker of whatever brands you purchased so you can rep them. you can typically just ask for one and and the owner give it to you anyway but you cant choose the good ones.

In short:

1. Wide range of freestyle and freeride products

2. Safety/avalanche equipment

3. Staff with knowledge about their products and the tunning of ski's

Extra details:

1. More brands than only the big boys, also some smaller brands with unique designs and great quality. Quality is most important, but it goes for ski's, bindings, helmets, outerwear, goggles etc

2. Shops that sell avy gear know their shit, they use it, they know how important it is and wont sell you shitty products

3. I think it is OK that not every staff member knows all the details of for example waxing. But I hate it when you come in a shop and there is no one that knows anything about waxing, if you know what I mean.. So with a small staff they all should know about tunning, avy gear, ski build and techy info.. But with a bigger shop and a larger shop it is good to have people who deal with one subject..
