What do you like in a site??

I'm changing up my site a little bit, basically combining all the sections into one big one, similar to boardpass.com....since it won't be a skiing only section I'm hoping harvey wont mind me posting this here.

I just want to know what you guys like in sites, etc etc?? I need ideas??

Also if anyone has any experience in web design and wants to help out in any way that'd be sweet. The goal is to someday become better then boardpass.com, whether or not that's possible I dont know.

Harvey I hope you don't mind this post, I just figured since I'm no longer a ski specific site you wouldn't mind. If you do mind please delete this post.

Suggestions guy?? Thanks!!!

I like sites that look like they have some skill behind them... not plain.

Andy, weren't you complaining yesterday about people being assholes!!

Anyways, yes I already have a whole original layout done and tons of stuff already picked out, I was just wondering if there were any extra features I could add that people like, nothing wrong with that.

My problem is that people got pissed about me flaunting NewSchoolSkiing.com arond the site... yet noone seems to care about you doing it... you dnot see me posting threads about the site I work for, so why do you have to?

Actually, that thread that andy wrote is from 4 months ago or so. Someone dug it up.

Well its just ironic that's all.

I'm not trying to advertise my site here, I won't spam NS anymore. I'm simply making a new site and wanted some ideas for features. And this new site won't compete with NS so I didn't see the harm in seeking suggestions.

Like Lord_Piot said, update as much as possible. This keeps the content fresh and exciting everytime you log on. Also, get lots of content. Many sites have tons of differnt sections, but few are actually worth looking at. The more content the more time people will spend on your site. Basically, keep it new and meaty, make visitors stay an adventure each time.

Andy and Actionsportsdude... Both of you, calm yourselves.

I reread what I said, I made it seem like graphics didn't mean anything, but what I meant is, Graphics are great for first impression, but the content is the reason people will come back. I never go to Freeze's website because it is virtually never new.so theres an example of what not to do
