What do you know about Sandpoint?

So the wife and I are thinking about moving to Sandpoint, we live outside Denver now and it suckssssss(Too far from sking, too few lakes, too much $$$).

We're going to be in Sandpoint next week (Mar 3rd-6th) checking stuff out, and hitting up Schweitzer.

So where's a good place to live? North side of the lake? South side? Along a tributary? Up in some hills? We want some space, so at least an acre (would settle for less if the property was on the water). Our price range is

anyway, our price range is under $300k, but the cheaper the better. If we decide to rent for awhile before buying how much can we expect to rent a 2 bedroom for? Is there anything special in town we should check out while we're there? Where can we get discounted lift tickets?

Sandpoint is a great small town. I grew up there and I know I will move back at some point. You will easily find a place for under $300,000. Places right now are selling for next to nothing. If you are looking for a home in the town, I would look near the lake in town, it would be considered the northwest part of the lake (near memorial field and Washington Elementary School). If you are looking for a place with a couple acres and woods, I would look near Sagle, ID (it is a separate town, but only about a 7-10 min drive to sandpoint). I grew up on the west side of town (near the High School) and I loved it. It was far enough out of town so we could have land, yet close enough to run to the store to grab a gallon of milk.

While you are there I would recommend attending Schweitzer's Outrageous Air Show on March 5th and 6th. Olympic arialists and locals show off their talent in the village. I would also recommend, taking an afternoon to walk downtown and check out all the local shops and artists. There are some great places to eat as well. McDuffs is a local brewry with some really good bar food and salads. Then there is the coldwater creek wine bar across the street, it is a great place to hear some local music and enjoy a glass of wine.

yeah i'm driving up for stomp games this year! THen I'll also be up for spring break march 26-april 5th. so there better be some bbq and pbr action in there somewhere.
 
my rents have a pretty nice house they rent out for six hundo a month but they have a tennant already and if you get to know any of the ski patrol or just some employees the could hook you up with some discounted day passes also buy early if you want cheap season passes
 
oh and this and ivano's dover is also a great little community im not sure of the prices on the house there at the moment i'll check when i get out of school

and to kori did you go to washington elementary?
 
Haha yeah i did go to washington elementary.

Right now passes for the rest of the season are $99 and if you buy a season pass next year, the $99 can be used twords it.

chillin' at the hojo right now, we checked out a bunch of places, kind of all over. The Cocolalla area seems pretty nice, we've found some houses up in the hills right off 95. Can you wakeboard on Lake Cocolalla?

Found a guy over CL to hook it up with $30 ticket vouchers. Right now we're debating hitting up Silver Mntn thurs since it's only $14, then Schweitzer on Fri. Might just skip Silver, it seems a little ghetto anyway, plus the long drive...

Yeah you can wake board on cocolalla. it is a beautiful area. It has pretty good fishing too. Silver is ok, but it will make you appreciate Schweitzer more.
