What do you guys think of these? (Crash Pads)

All of you fucking retards who are saying these are for pussies deserve a Darwin award. Yes, the marketing is stupid as hell, but saying "I'm not going to wear lightweight, unnoticeable protection for a frequently injured part of the body for freeskiers when I'm sliding down skinny metal rails over concrete stairs and trying new shit that I'm bound to fall doing because it's cool to make myself more prone to getting hurt and ruining the rest of my season" need to get real. I'm sure as hell not spending $50 for it, but please let me know when your product comes out thread creator. I'm definitely interested.

if you play football you can just use your girdle if they came with built-in pads, thats what i do and havent had a sore ass/thigh for a while. Plus they're only 35$ at your local sporting goods store.

on a related note, for those of you guys who wear crash pads, do you wear a cup?

if not, why wear pads to protect your ass but not your boys?

i'm not hating, i am just curious.

I'm thinking about getting a back protector for this season (I'm really done with spending time on backboards in the ER), but that site seems to market their protective wear more as cool accessories than as protective equipment which makes me suspicious of their quality.

I just got the RED ones the other day and they're pretty decent. Not much padding really. I got the one thats like a boardshort

They're not going to be that much protection. It'll probably stop some really bad bruises, but if you land hard enough to break something or in an awkward enough way, it'll still probably break.

Anyway, seems like a good idea for someone just starting out in the park, or for that dude with nerve damage.

I have actual Crash pads shorts and jacket - they have prevented or minimized plenty of injuries from impact over the last few years.

And as I have said before, I couldn't care less if the little kids make fun of me for wearing them - particularly for an old guy.... protection = fewer injuries = more days riding.

Those look sick. I'm sitting here with my hip hurting like hell from learning new spins today, and I really want to get one of those. It seems like something I could con the mom into buying, since its "protection". But Seriously, If theres ever a zombie apocolypse, I'm getting a full suit. They could never bite through that shit. Think how badass you would look too.

I have the 2600 shorts and I wear them EVERY day. I think anything you can to to minimize risk is a smart thing. I never notice that I'm wearing them, and they're not so bulky that they show up through my pants. I do know, that they've saved me a few times when falling onto a rail or onto the Midwest ice. They might not protect you from a broken femur, but they could be the difference between a day ending deep bruise, and a hard fall.

Every person I've talked to that hucks big cliffs (60+) always wears back protectors for their big hucks.

I was going to buy some crash pads because I always bruise up the same spot on my ass, and one day I cased a 360 hard and it got all kinds of black and swollen and numb and shit. But the spot was in between where the pads are when I tried them on, so I just stuffed a couple socks in my back pocket for a week or so till the pain was gone. Worked well enough.

to everybody saying "omg they arent for pussies, if you are so much of a man why dont you ski wearing razor blades", shut up. i've fallen on rails and got such nasty black bruises on my hips that i couldnt walk for a week. it gets better, quit being such a pussy, these are stupid.

i wear some cheap protec ones. they help a little but not a ton. i dont really notice them so why not wear them.
