What do you do with old, unusable gear?

What do you guys do with things like helmets, goggles, and gloves that are way too damaged for anyone to use again but you don't just want to throw them in the landfill?

I have an old helmet I filled with dirt and planted some beans then hung from my tree. Hanging pot

Most of my gloves end up all ripped to shreds and no reason to keep them around so they end up in the bin. Other than that, Ive pretty much kept everything,lol. I have a few plastic totes in storage holding all my shit.

For most gear: try to get new stuff before my current kit is wrecked then sell it cheap or give it away (gotta give back) I'm lucky enough to be a position to do so

For skis: ride them until they break then hang them up as like taxidermy

Ik it sucks but most of it just has to go in the trash ? sad reality of consumer sporting goods.

I like to keep the bigger stuff as momentos - One of these days I'll have a man-cave and mount all the glorious detritus of cracked bike frames and delammed/snapped skis on the walls.

For skis and boards, make chairs, outside furniture for a firepit or something. Saw a dude on ig that uses old coats to make bags. All sorts of colors and look sick.
