What do you do for exercise in preparation of the upcoming season?

Been a few years since I've ridden more than a handful of times in a season. What do y'all do for exercise to get your body ready for ski season? I bike to work everyday but would like to do more.

If you have access to water whether it be a lake or pool try to swim a bunch if you can. Some of the best all around low impact exercise you can get

I hate cardio, like I truly hate but I try to keep in decent shape by hopping on my elipitical couple times a week and I've started lifting weights again. I think skiing takes more core then a lot people think and working out your legs is a must.

^^^^yep and don't forget about dem hamstrings. Most people don't do enough hamstring exercises.

Honestly, legs, core, and cardio are priorities. Calves are important muscles for life but don't co grazy; when I used to lift religiously, my calves and ski boots didn't get along. Makes for an awkward fit.

Neck exercises aren't a bad idea either just in case you take a spill and land on your head; stronger your neck, less likely to be fucked.

For cardio, I like running, biking, stair master, and cybex total body arc trainer (much better than elliptical and I can get nearly a full stride on this too versus a half stride on elliptical). Tried spinning once- shit is intense.

Dancing cardio or martial arts modified into cardio format can be quite high energy too.

Good advice in the comments above. Running, biking, swimming, weights, skating. Anything that gets you off the couch, do it!

Donut curls, all summer long.

Seriously though, biking is good, swimming is good, core workouts, don't skip leg day. Do as much as your schedule allows and a variety of activities.

Not necessarily a specific workout for skiing I crank up my hiking again in the early fall. Helps with cardio and the quads, but mostly just gets me hyped to be in the mountains again.

I cycle 10-12hr a week and mountain bike a couple hours a week as well. On rainy evenings its either the rock climbing gym or the traditional weights at a gym always ending the workout with 5-10min of core work.

I’m 27 years old. I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Same here, fuck exercising, but my high metabolism will only last so long. Usually just throw some skiing on the tv and try to do 1200-1500 revs or burn 100 carbs before using the bench press and do what I can, legs are strong but upper body is very mediocre.

Skate about an hour or more a day. Helps keep my balance up and learning new stuff keeps me occupied till it snows. Swimming in a pool or a river is also super good and you get opportunities to practice flips with little consequence.

Well, right now I bike 3 days a week, swim 2 days and run 2 days a week. I'm currently training for a half iron man but that's a little unnecessary for prepping for ski season. Anything that builds your quads and endurance is good so cycling which you do now is great. If you can work in some intervals of rpe 3-8 that would help.

Many of you guys have asked me about my ski workout routine, well here's my secret. Be sure to use the promo: newschoolers42069

threads for motivation.

Jump squats, burpees, wall sits, etc.

(As well as maintaining good cardio)

I always find my thighs burning after the first few laps of the season. Building the stamina so your legs dont get tired as fast is gonna make ur early season that much better.

Hike, bike, workout in general keeps your body fit, work on your mobility and maybe try some yoga, I personally also like to go climbing.

And the most important thing: Do not forget to drink beer! Otherwise you will die the first time you go Aprés Ski again!
