It gets harder as you get older.
teens: hilarity/sense of humor, popularity decent looks
20's: hilarity/sense of humor, popularity, decent looks, job
late 20's: hilarity/sense of humor, intelligence, job, familial status/background, goals, education, loyalty, decent looks
30's: hilarity/sense of humor, job, ambition, education, familial status/background, goals, motivation, education, morals, honesty, integrity, loyalty, and skills...girls like guys with skills...hopefully decent looks.
the trend is less emphasis on looks and popularity, and more emphasis on education, intelligence, motivation, goals, skills, and being family oriented.
One top thing that never goes away though is hilarity/sense of humor...will always be number 1 for me.

Certainly if you are a teen who is intelligent, motivated, ambitious, funny, and caring, life with girls will get easier for you as their emphasis moves further from popularity and looks and toward the traits that you have. Alternatively, if you are a teen who is getting by on decent looks and popularity alone, girls will gravitate to you less as you get older and their priorities change.

At 28 I've had much life experience and I assure you there is a pretty standard recipe for attracting quality women, or what I would consider quality.
