What do we call our sport?

I have been thinking alot about the sport of "freeskiing" when i tell the kids from school that im a freeskiier, or a freerider they think im just an all around racer, rails, jumps, and big mountian skiier. Then if i say im a Freestyle skiier they think im in the moguls. I was thinking about it and i came up with the Urban Skiing Culture. I mean urban may mean the streets and shit but thats a big part of out culture... is it not? what do you think?

looks like most of us call it either newschools kiing or freeskiing
 
if it bothers you, just politely correct them. the meaning of the word freeskiing will spread soon enough.
 
when my parents ask if i race i aalways say no i ski park and pipe.. like jumps aand raails and pipe
 
I call it freestyle trickery on planks. jk I usually call it this " well I do this type of skiing in the pipe and rails and jumps and shit we do everything you probably think snowboarders only do, we think were thugs too". I usually tell them something like that besides the thug part...hah.
 
if someone asks me to go into further detail about what kind of skiing i do, ill tell them, but i usually jsut say skiing and they can do what they want that
 
i just say skiing, they canb thin whatever they want about skiing. but if they call me fag or gay, then i tell them what freeskiing is
 
usualy it goes like this

Yeah i love to ski, i ski alot of park

and its A. thats cool or B whats park and i say jumps and shit

people usualy get it
 
tell them "i do what snowboarders do, only a shitload better and unlike them, i dont act, talk and dress like every other trained seal on a plank to validate my existance".

that should end the conversation
 
i say im a skier, cuz most of the time people dont know what the hell im talkin about anyways
 
ill usually say trick skiing or freestyle skiing and if they ask what is i tell them jumps and rails

a guy came into the shop I work at and thinking I was a snowboarder said he was an "extreme arial skier"
 
well like im sure everyone gets the same shit in school like "skiings gay". It used to piss me off but now i can care less because yes skiing is what i do, and i can care less what people think of me as long as i can ski im happy. But like ya it is pothetic that every person that snowboadrds automatically gets labeled as a terrain park border. But just the skiing that we do is so unique then it is to any other part of skiing or snowboarding.
