How much do you think guys like Tanner an Jon make a year ?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Is it cheating if the girl is from another country?

Some one please help !!!

I have no idea, but i dont think it pays all that much compared to other pro sports, id guess 750 thousand a year in tournament winnings. I dont even wanna guess how much endorsementts pay.

ya, plus sponsorships, so what maybe another 50-100k?

The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get that out of the way, then go live in an old folks home, then you should get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, then on your first day at work you should get a gold watch. You work 40 years until you are young enough to enjoy your retirement, you go drinking and partying, then get ready for high school. You go to elementary school, become a kid, you play, you have no responsiblities, you become a little baby, you go back and spend your last 9 months floating around in a spa and then you finish up as an orgasm!

tanner is definetly in the 3 digits. he prolly gets a huuuuuuuuge bonus for winning competitions, and hes won like all of them.

Machete skier32: man..dont talk to me like that, do you know who i am?

On top of their comp winnings, oakley (who sponsors both Jon and Tanner) is supposed to match that cash prize from getting first place. we still don't make nearly as much as skaters even, not to mention guys like dumbass baseball players.

I know that professional snowboarder has been making about 1.3 million a year. Thats comps and sponsorships. Oakley, Nike, Burton etc. That was what I heard, only a rumour.

Oakley makes the best eyewear and clothing in the world!

Check out: www.jibculture.com

ok starting at the begging of this season, Tanners Contracts said he would get 125,000 A year Just to ride. Thats no photo incentatives, no comp winnings, no photo shoots. Nothing Just money paid from Rossignol and Oakley..

I don't know about Tanner and Jon but I remember seeing a segment on Shaun Palmer a few years back. He said he gets $750,000 a year through comps and sponsors.

I am pretty sure that some snowboarders make like 2-3 mil a year.

We just don't have the market to support that, that's why the pros keep telling us all to demand pro model everything.

I know there's prizematching, but it's nowhere the exposure that snowboarders get.

i think that some of the smaller guys might make like 30-50k/year...

I dunno...

Why can't we all just get along?

snowboards make aroudn a million a year, skiers make a lot less then that, but we are catching up

T-lo

ski how you wanna ski

Good call on the A4, certainly not a $50,000 car. As for how much they make I would be plenty happy making 50 G's a year to ski.

I like my chicks like my whips, topless

tanner hall made 50-75 thousand for comps alone, then oakley matches what he made, and rossignol pays him 25,000 as long as he is winning, so he made a total of

125,000-175,000 dollars last year

Comps + Sponsers + Appearances + Money Saved from Being Given Free Stuff= More than I'll ever make.

just think of how much golfers make and cry. what they do doesn't even require any physical endurance really, or at least not compared to us skiiers. and the SHITTY golfers can easily make over a mil a year in winnings, hell, they make 6 digits just showing up at a comp.

i wanna get paid to ski...instead i have to pay to ski

golfing is fuckin' hard dude.... and last time i checked you don't sweat too much skiing... stand there and let gravity do the work, when you get in the air it's preaty easy to move around.

what golfers do doesnt add up to what theyre paid, it is a hard sport but when youre still paid like 10,000 for last place thats pretty cool but dumb, what does tiger woods make anyways??

yeah dudes, i think mike is right....skiing isnt too hard, just let gravity do the work for you. it requires hardly no physical abilities, and what the hell, you dont even have to have endurance. shit. skiing:golf is like ping-pong:rugby!

Rest assured the SHITTY golfers aren't pulling in 1 mil per year. I may be way off but I heard that Tiger is getting like several million from nike alone.

I disagree completly twoplanker, last time I checked, I didnt see anyone break a leg playing golf. Sure, Golf is mentally tough, but skiing takes mad balls to try new things, a different mental test. You are not risking limp when you play golf. As for gravity doing the work for you, then why isn't everyone pulling corked 900 liu kangs? Because it takes talent. Also, if you just freeski, you don't break a sweat, but everytime I do backcountry, I sweat pretty hard trying to manipulate the terrain. Also, backcountry skiing takes mad concentration on where you are doing and quick thinking to deal with situations as they arise.

yeah good call skunkjib, golfers never get hurt, they are really never risking much, when they lose it doesn't matter, when we fall, it hurts

yeah you dont see golfers riding some 70 degree pitch just for the hell of it, thats skill right there, lots of skill

skunkjib - you that dumb? ya, no shit it takes talent to do a corked 900, but you saying that golf doesn't take talent? than why the hell arn't you a pro golfer? golfing is a fucking hard sport, and golfers have mad talent. the risk isn't there, but golf isn't an alternative (or extreme as some would say) sport now is it? baseball players make a ton of money, when was the last time a baseball player risked his life?

every sport takes amazing talent to be a pro at. don't be so ignorant.

.dave.

if you just cruise the groomer bunny hill all day, skiing doesn't take much physical talent but if you do anything more than that, it takes incredible leg strength and endurance to go a whole day, dropping cliffs, skiing pow, ripping moguls etc.

I was talking to mike wilson a few weeks ago and he said Tanner was making like 100,000 a year from Oakley and another about 100,000 from Rossi.

ya, and 48 964 Americans required emergency-room treatment in 1998 for injuries caused by their toilets... what's your point? there's 'risks' in ever sport (syncro swimmers could dround anytime, golf players could be hit by people driving cars around the fairway, etc...)

.dave.

hahhaha thats insane, ok i think that we should just end it on that everything we do, involves skill and risk, if it be breathing, golfing or skiing its skill and risk

Pros contracts usually pay them a base line...top pros are in the 100grand range. Thats for skis...if you have a pro model you also get a percentage of the skis sold. Figure guys on line are probably being paid less than guys on salomon, just the economics of it but they hope it will pay off in the long run. The big companies like oakley pay a lot too thus why everyone wants on them. Then clothing, goggles, poles things like that pay but no where near like ski companies will. Mountains you ski for some provide places to stay and money. Contracts have photo/video incentives, for a cover you get paid so much, full page etc...I believe most are only if their product is visible. Movies pay by the length of the segment and what movie it is in. A poorboyz movie pays more than something made by your buddy down the street with his high 8. Contest prizes are also payed out...They arent getting rich but guys like Tanner, JF, and JP make really good money. I say the best off are people like Mike Douglas who have a good business sense not just a ski ability...he does commentating and he inevitably will manage a major team or another high marketing position for a company. Top boarders make a lot more money and that wont change for a while...if skiers get on TV ads they will make major money. Mt Dew, easy way to make some money.

Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try. - Homer Simpson

from swedish ski mag:

in one week(x-games +us open) jon olsson won a couple of hundred thousands(swedish money so about 20K) in prize money and about as much in bonus from his sponsors.

Where did I EVER imply that golf took no skill? I did not disparage against golf at all or take away from it, I simply DEFENDED SKIING. I never said golf was easy. I can see where you might of got confused though. I answered another question in my reply about skiing taking balls and then followed it up on a comment on how skiing takes talent, but not disparaging golf's talent base. They were comments on two completely different things. GOLF TAKES MORE TALENT THAN I WILL EVER HAVE. THERE. Jeez.....

As for the mental things, I was simply COMPARING the mental anguish of both sports. The threat of being hurt isn't a prevalent in golf, but it is certainly a factor in skiing. In skiing, the wind isn't as huge a factor as it is in golf. Seperate mental and physical challenges. Mental factors are there, just different ones.
