Any ideas. Wondering if jib stars make the same loot as big mtn dudes. I doubt it is 6 firgure.

My drinking team has a serious skiing problem!

Good question. If you're a superstar like Tanner, then I think you make a LOT more cash from your sponsors and advertisements than from winning comps. alone. Probably a few are six-figure, but only the very cream of the crop.

Yah, not that i have anyway of knowing, but i assume that the top 1 or 2 percent are pulling in a healthy sum...probably 6 figure, moseley is definitly pulling in 6 figures. I'm sure a lot of them are making a reasonable amount. Especially considering most of their gear, clothes and passes are paid for.

what is the pricesum for the comps anyway?

i heard tanner won like 40000 USD in total last year!

red bull big air in sweden was about 4000 USD!

and i mean when they send morrison and company to alaska to be filmed for a month that is a pretty good payment even if it´s not cash.

yeah sponsor money is the big money!

haha jag åker ändå bättre än er allihop tillsammans så det så!

I heard that like 4 years ago JF was making like 150 G's per year.

I know that peter line makes like 500 000 dollars/year.

It's nuts.

I figure the guys aty the top pull in alot and the rest about 15 to 30g

who cares how much dough you make....if you are good enough ,you have sponsors to take you skiing anywhere you want...thats payment enough

Peter LIne makes more then a million per year.....

he havwe lots of action in Forum and in other snowboards companies...

In skiing, I guess it would be Mike Nick who could win the palm... he prolly have some LINE actions. He have three pro models on the market, have a lot of sponsors, own siver cartel.

It is unfortunate when everything seems to be going really good and the girl uses a word like 'dont', or 'stop'. If she learned to use these two words in unison, everyone would be much happier.

yeah, word newschooler99, if you're geting all your trips paid for, all your gear free and stuff like that then who cares, that's plenty of dosh that you don't have to spend. If you get anything at all on top of that then BONUS!! I wanna be a hard out pro!

Having all your trips, expenses paid for is GREAT, but you guys have to realize that Pro skiing is more than a full-time job. On top of that, the opportunity cost is large (what you're giving up to be a pro skier). You're essentially giving up your skiing careers worth of time that could be used to do stuff like get that times worth of experience at a job, or go through university, etc. Needless to say that you're ALWAYS working as a pro skier. There hardly is any time off w/out losing your status or your ability. You are constantly travelling, so its tough to stay commited to your family, friends, etc, which in essence is a HUGE deal. Granted, you become great friends with the people you are always with, but you're hardly ever home.

It would be useless if you walked out of a 6 yr Pro ski career with nothing to show for it except good memories (and boy would they be good). You HAVE to expect to be getting paid by your sponsors, etc to replace that time missed while you were devoted to your career as a skier. It's STILL A JOB - a GOOD one, but it IS a job. And not only that, but you're putting your physical health on the line.

There are tons of 'jobs' out there that are physically demanding/risky, and believe me, when you're health is on the line, your employer normally sees that you're compensated for that. This is no different in skiing.

Put all those cons together, and believe me that this is worth ALOT of money. Considering that on top of everything you're influencing a generation of skiers that look up to you (this is worth ALOT of money to companies) and by all means you should be compensated for this too.

Pro skiers are severely underpaid. In the future lets hope for higher salaries and incentives.

I dont think i would mind being a pro skier. Get to ride the best snow alot of the time, get to go to summer camps all summer. It probly isnt a job that will last you your whole life because eventually, you are going to get hurt, or just get too old to perform like you could when you were young. Unless you were Mike Douglas or something and you had a big say in what a company does. Or something like that.

Ya, snowboarders make so much money. This guy called Danny Kass, an up an coming snowboarder, made more than $100 000 off prize money alone last winter.

Plus his sponsors match all the prize money, so he made over $200 000 just off competitions. That's fuckin' crazy, ya. Later.

Yah...i've thought about how cool it would be to be pro...but then i thought about the things like being forced to travel and do comps and all that stuff...i'm not sure i'd like it. Heh, i get nervous jumping when more then a few people i don't know are watching me....my legs get all shaky and stuff. I doubt i could handle having several thousand people watching plus tv cameras being on me...

As if i didn't win the super 7 on friday....i was so sure that 20million would be mine....all i got was 10 buck and 2 free tickets. Oh well, maybe a couple mil next friday? That's how i'd like to be paid to ski :)

If you could throw flatspin 5 japan's or d-spin 9's, or underflip lui kangs,

Or even Switch Flatspin 7 Saftey (I think will be this years trick)

Im sure you mind showing off alittle to a huge crowd, if you habe the guts to land those tricks. you ain't scared of a little people.

I think one o fthe bigest concerns would be saving enough money. You want to retire early young if you could. I mean what are you gonna do the rest of your life? I mean Shane McConkey and Mike D are both like 32 years old. That is fooking OLD in this industry!!! They have still got a hell of a long way to go until they croak. Or is that why McConkey is such a phsyco? Hmmm...

Anyways, I imagine that you'd learn much more useful skills travling around the world meeting tons of dirreret people than you would in University. Eh, talk about good PR and marketing experience.

All these guys are the same as ex pro surfers though. If you were the best at one time, the company that used to sponsor you usually gives ya jobs like team manager or ex reps just like `Plake/

is. I know for a lot of the guys the sponsor doubles the prize money at every event so if you win 15 000 at the WSSF they put in 15 000 so you basically win 30 000gs. These dudes risk injury big time though, how much does Opera make again, that fat bitch!
