What din

Hi, I am running Tyrolia attack 14. Yes I know I am 5’4 and 130 pounds I could’ve gone with the tyrolia attack 11 but I wanted my bindings to match my ski. I am thinking about settling my dins to 8 or 9 for park. What do you guys think.

Holy fuck chill. Anyway I’d recommend setting them to 4, that’s where mine are at and I’m 130 and 5’8

Set at a 5.5. Calculated for you and took a guess for ur bsl and put it in the 290-310 range and put ya as an intermediate and under 16

People are being toxic for no reason, again. Like someone said already 5-6 is a good range I think.

I know I don’t understand NEWSCHOOLERS sometimes IK its kinda of a dumb question but don’t be an asshole about it

set at recommended from the din charts/calculator and adjust as necessary by 1/2 and 1 din increments. make sure the binding is fully adjusted to your boots so there is no other release issues other than the din setting.

Your so clueless lmaoo

So you grew 2 inches and gained 5 pounds in 10 hours since creating this post?

it'll be around 6 .

I'm basically the same size and thats what the shop set me at.

he was being an ass to begin with, what do you mean?

Yeah cus people downvoted his thread before this one for no reason and then this thread started getting downvotes even before any comments.

And the dude he called dumbass kinda sounded condescending too in the context that OP had already got downvoted for no reason, ”i’m thinking you should look up some din charts” or whatever he said.

I get it if u thought he was being an ass but imo he wasn’t

I mean that’s just how nsers is. I asked a din question a while back and got the same “din chart” or go to a ski shop.

Because if you gotta ask you most likely shouldn’t be setting your own dins, you could easily mess yourself up

I am 180lbs, 6'3", BSL 318mm, type III skier. My calculated DIN is 8.5 and I ride at 9. You should REALLY figure out what your calculated DIN from a shop is and then go up slightly from that at your discretion. I'm not certified for Tyrolia so I can't help you. If you value your ALC's I would play it seriously safe particularly with a binding that is stronger than what is ideal

DIN seems different with different bindings. My Pivots are at 8.5 while my STH2s are at 10 to achieve what feels like the same release point. But I started both at 8 which was my recommended and slowly went up as needed.

As someone who just tore their ACL a couple days ago, set it low! Set it low while you still have the chance! For the love of god!

Yeah, the recommended for advanced type 3, 210#, 6'3" is 8.5. People need to chill I think the Pivot 18 got people fucked up in the head.

The DIN scale is just a different unit for ultimate release torque. Assuming both bindings are set correctly and working properly, a DIN of 8.5 is the same release torque in the workshop on the release test machine regardless of manufacturer. The DIN standard is tightly and independently controlled, no brand variation allowed.

however out on the hill, other factors come into play, like elastic travel. This is how far the boot can move from the rest position and not release. The pivot is famed for its high elastic travel on the heel and it’s why you and others will be happy to set the DIN lower on pivots compared to other bindings as you get that “suspension” effect before the DIN ultimate release torque comes into play.

If you’re interested, Blister review recently did a panel discussion on alpine bindings.

Interesting! Thanks for the info, that makes sense.

Yours is high his is low. Meet at 5.5-6.5 for best results.

Probably the best ngl, ski shop techs sets it at 6.5-7. I like to drop bigger cliffs so I have it higher I guess.

Just don't be a pussy and crank both dins as high as they go, accept that they are glued to your feet and the ski will have to snap before it comes off. Lots of people tear the ACL on proper DIN settings every season anyways. Either adhere to a din chart for accepted release settings for your height body weight sole length and skiing aggression or just lock them down and don't give a fuck and deal with it when you have a crash.
