What did you get on your SAT

Because I have to parents that attended there. My Uncle went there. I have a a cousin there, AND my sister is applying there.

1110 out of 1600

i thought that was decent. either you are all smart as fuck or lie. or the dumb asses don't post haha.

im getting a serious reality check... i thought my 1800 was good. i scored 600 in everything. i even took a class to learn how to take that shit. at least i got into the one school i applied to.

2030 overall. i got a 740 on the math and 660 on the reading which made for a pretty good old version score (which is really only what a lot of schools care about. not that writing bullshit). my score got me into the university of washington. the only school i applied to

bump.... how about them Jan 23rd scores?
This was my first time, I didn't study and got a 2000, a little disappointed, but I'm aiming for 2200 by fall

He is right sort of, mcgill is super addiment on having good marks. I honestly did not even know that canadian universitys look at SATs.

IMO the American school system is seriosuly flawed and fucked up.

adamant, universities, seriously

based on your butchery of moderately basic words, it seems that the canadian school system is fucked up

my brother took it twice and got somewhere between 1450 and 1500. and yeah that includes the essay....

and he's going to syracuse...

1580, im a bad tester though haha any of you guys get good grades but just do so shitty on tests? its the worst when your applying for college, like how do you justify your shitty test scores when thats one of the major things colleges look at?

no he is really good. he did well in the writing section. he doesn't test well. and it's cool i'm not offended it's my brother not me. i don't think writing skill has much to do with sat scores

true, but i think that writing is hands down the most important ski in college, regardless of your major. and pretty sure that the 15% of NS that is actually in college/graduated would agree with me.

and NPR would find a professor that has a problem with the SAT's. lol

haha yeah i actually learned about that guy in sat prep class. apparently they're thinkin about taking the writing section back out. and i agree about writing in college but i mean beforehand, not so much.

writing section needs to stay, but i do have a problem with the way one of my past essays was graded...

especially in comparison to some of the other ones i've read that received my same score.

i like the essay, i may be biased because i got a 12/12 on the essay CLAIM but i think it shows true writing ability. the college application essays and supplements are edited by so many other people: teachers, parents, counselors. the work isnt even the student's work anymore, but the sats reflect the student's work

The essay shows how well you can reproduce a structured 5 paragraph essay. It takes little to no ingenuity to create points of evidence to support or defeat the presented argument as the prompts are so broad - in every essay prompt I have ever seen in my three years as a SAT tutor, I have not failed to use the movie "The Matrix". The writing section, rather the whole test, is a farce. Its stamping a quantitative value to ones ability to reason, which nobody does exactly to one standardized method.

The SAT essay is the farthest thing from real writing that anyone could come up with. When was the last time you wrote a 5 paragraph essay before the SAT? 4th grade... maybe? There is a reason schools don't factor it in. Even the public California schools (who lobbied for the section's creation) don't really look at it anymore.
That being said I got a 12 on it also just because it is such a joke as long as you know what the readers are looking for.
2250 out of 2400 (one sitting)
1530 out of 1600
800 on verbal

it has absolutely nothing to do with TRUE writing skill. it measures your ability to produce 5 concise paragraphs in a short period of time. that is considered skilled writing in 7th grade but you can write a shitty essay for the SAT and score highly on it if you adhere to a strict formula

the whole writing section of the SAT is stupid, luckily i think the right way so it allows me to score well on it, but writing is about creativity and the SAT is singlehandedly the most hostile environment for creativity. at least math has a right and wrong, and they do a decent job with reading comprehension also, but why try to stretch and add sections that contradict the overall goal of the subject
