What did I do wrong.. Edge Cracks..

Funny you say that, because last sunday, my 9th day on my Blue Steele's, and hey I noticed I have an edge crack on my left ski right under my boot. I'm not freaking out about it, figured it would happen sooner or later. I'm just hoping it doesn't pull out...

not true a lot of companies will warranty rail damage. it's not that it's a manufacturer's defect, it's more of customer service/customer retention thing than anything else.

the moral of this guy's story, don't expect a small company to cover abuse (yes, rails are seen as abuse).

gotta love NS sometimes. 3 days of riding and you think this is ok? at that rate i would have gone through about 25 pairs of skis last year. dont get me wrong, i know that shit happens when you ski rails, duh...but 3 days

WME dispute anyone? yea, stfu you hypocritical asshats

Yes, I would expect that to happen. Every pair of skis I have ever used on rails has had cracked edges within the first couple solid metal jammin sessions. (7 different pairs from 4 different companies.) It's inevitable. He doesnt need a new pair unless he wants skis that perfom well on hard groomers, but if that's the case he's an idiot for taking them on rails in the first place. Do you buy a new pair of skis every time the edges crack? I fail to see why a company would replace a pair of skis because the edges cracked after hitting rails with them. On the other hand it would make sense for the company to try some different materials of construction to make their park skis withstand rails for a couple more days.

I had some old lines from back in the day with a bunch of edge cracks but they never pulled, Rossignols didnt crack after almost an entire season of park riding then second year they cracked multiple times and ripped out. So far a couple days on line step ups nothing.

my first skis were dynastar trouble and i cracked the edges everywhere and the edges did rip out at multiple plases.. then i rode salomon spk and there is not one single edge crack of 2 years of abuse of only doing rails and boxs and lots of street. now ill see how my blue steeles last :)

Oh I wouldnt dispute the fact that some companies do in fact warranty skis that they shouldnt. They dont have to though, thats my point. For a large company, profit margins on a pair of sticks are huge compared to a smaller indie, you bet your ass its no skin off their back if they have to send out a few extra pairs, even if it is the customers fault for falling badly on a sketchy line and blowing up a ski.

i guses shit happens :P anyways its not really a big deal i find. i only do rails i dont like jumps so it doesnt really make a diff if theres some cracks and missing edges.

I didn't want to start another Surface No Time thread so I thought I'd ask my questions here....
I haven't gotten a new pair of skis since 2007. I have been riding Amada Ar6s since December 2007. Of course, after riding park day in day out for the past 3 years, I am really in need of a new pair of skis. I let the Armada proform I had sit for too long and now they're out of stock of pretty much all their inventory. My good friend gave me a Surface proform, and I am interested in getting the Anthony B No Times in the 172. I have a few concerns about them, however.1-DurabilityI skied my AR6s every single day and mostly ski park/rails. To this day I still don't have a crack in my edge. Same can't be said for my 1st year ARWs from 2004?2005? Cracked those and broke the whole ski. After seeing this post, as well as hearing a few things throughout the years Surface has been around, I'm a bit skeptical. I really only ski park, unless it's a good pow day.2-WidthGoing 10 cm skinnier from 171 ar6 with 85 with to 172 no time with 75, will it make a huge difference?
I feel like a dumb girl skier, because I literally no nothing anymore about skis. I go out, I have a good time, and now, I have to retire the old skis and get some new ones. I'm really interested and have always been in Surface, but seeing this, as well as reading other threads on durability/warranty issues, has made me a bit skeptical. Any insight please?! thanks!!
btw, Jason, if you read this.....I appreciate your help so much! You're the best!!

Took my new nine lives out for the first time. After about 15 runs, checked my bases and had 5 core shots, and edges were screwed. Pretty pissed. Seems to be the norm with surface park skis.

pics?

what the fuck were you doing that you got 5 core shots and screwed edges....? skis go on mountains and snow, not streets and pavement you know

big spence bitches about surface.
surface decides they want to come to big spences home mountain and put on an event to regain some good publicity?
big spence declines and bitches some more.
