hey. im just wondering where everyone goes to college. im a junior in high school and i have been looking at some schools in vermont and NH. i am currently considering Castleton State and New England College. i have also looked at Lynden State and Johnson State but i think im more interested in NEC and Castleton. im interested in communication, and business administration.

i goto umass and they have the one of the to business schools in the country.....castleton state from what ive heard is boring as hell from this kid alex i kno that went there. He went there just to ski and couldnt take it anymore apparently and ended up leaving. I dont kno anythin about the other schols ur interested in.

my sister goes to johnson state and loves it...but dont let their "on campus terrain park" fool you, they have a area deciated to it, it was made by their snowbaprd club, skiers cna use it, but whe i was there it wasnt set up but looked like it would be a few jumps, no jibs i could see, def had some potentioal tho. plus smuggs and stowe are like 10 min away!! but i got to school near boston and then go up on the weekends...czu the kids i nanny for have a place near loon so i stay with them!

im looking at castleton/lyndon too! except the small town/campus thing is a turn off. I'm graduating early next year, so im gunna take some classes there for a year then move out west...hopefully university of utah.

I go to Lyndon State and I am a ski resort mngment major. Its a sick program with classes like backcountry skiing and trips to mamouth and june that u get credit for. THis year i got free passes to JAy and Burke just for being in the a practicum class. Yeah its a small town with almost nothing to do but the skiing is good. Plus if you like to mountain bike there is no place better then Kingdom Trails. Burke is ten minutes away and a pass is only 200. Jay is only 45 minutes.

st. michaels bro. they have a $25 season pass to smugglers notch and its just outside of burlington. great parties too.

is johnson state a good school to go to? st mikes screwed me with financial aid, so im thinkin of transfering there instead.

listen to the dude who said goto plymouth.......straight ass school my boys go there.....all they do is rip the mountain and party....pretty good party school lots of drugs flying around

UMaine Farmington, sloaf is 45 minutes, river is about an hour. If you at all interested in a career in skiing there ski industry program is one of the best, if not the best. Very good business program as well, which is what your interested in. I'm a business major/ ski industries coaching certificate.

plymouth is a fuckin shithole. if you actually want to do something with your life besides be an alcoholic, go somewhere else.

i was real interested in umaine farmington but when i visited the only thing in the center of town is a movie thetre and a pizza place...St Michaels cant party nearly as hard as uvm....def come to UVM if you can handle the smell of hippies

stowe isnt ten mins away from johnson, cause you cant go through the notch, you gotta go around and shit, I go to champlain college and its pretty sick, you are in burlington vt, good skiing is all under an hour away, and the school work is pretty easy so you can get out on the hill a lot more then most colleges

UVM, burlington is the shit, ski and snowboard club hosts tons of movie premiers/trips/rail jams, rightside productions is straight out of there and a bunch of meatheads too, it may not have a park but you'll never have a prob meeting someone on your floor to go out and set up a rail with behind your dorm

and most importantly for the last 2 years i've been able to set up my spring semester to have all my classes on mon/wed/fri or tues/thurs so plenty of time to ski

All the colleges in VT are different academic levels, so looking at St Mikes and Johnson as two equals would be a mistake.

Higher level Academically-

UVM

St Mikes

UNH (we'll throw that in)

Middle/Lower level ACADEMICALLY -

Johnson

Castleton

Lyndon

Plymouth

there's nothing wrong with any of these schools, don't get the wrong impression. It's just that St Mikes, UVM, and UNH are much more difficult than the others.

ya, I didn't mention dartmouth and middlebury cause they weren't brought up in this thread. You forgot St Mikes though, which would be in between your higher and lower levels.

there's no way unh is higher level like everyone that applies gets in i don't know anyone that has been rejected dartmouth and middlebury are but not unh

It's a higher level school than Castleton or Johnson. I didn't say it was a high level school compared to Cornell or Bowdoin or something.

johnson does. thats where i go. its a sweet school. it has a lot of skiing in the winter and a lot of biking in the summer. i personally love it there. castleton is also really nice. plymouth is too far from the mountains but i heard its fun. were working on the terrain park this year too and hopefully it will be bigger and usable. i welded up a rail and i hope to do some more rails this summer. it should be pretty decent.

you forgot champlain, thats on the super tard level, I go there but it sweet cause its so easy and I'm getting a very valuable degree

I graduated from Mass Maritime Academy in 2002. Here is a good thought for you wanna-be ski bums. I have friends from college who ship out 6 months of the year and make around 100K for just those 6 months. They then have the other 6 months to do whatever they want. Good life if you are single and thats what you want to do.

VT colleges in academic order according to VSAC (my dad's the VP and CFO, so don't try and argue). This was in the last few years.

Dartmouth-Middlebury

St Michaels

UVM

Champlain

Castleton

Lyndon-Johnson

does anyone here go to dartmouth. i heard alot of good things and i am looking into that. if you do how is it?

uhh whoops mean to pm that hah, well I go to umass too startin this fall, so hit me up if you feel like draggin a silly freshman around!! If you wanna get an idea of my skiing level peep the waffle haus trailer, although theres pretty much no sking, I'm the one in the red pants. i'm bringing out my urban skis so lemme know if any railage is goin down and there's room for one more. thanks

babson in wellsley ma is a great business school, but not very close to any mountains. all of the schools in amherst ma are about 45 min from mt snow.

Yea bro im a freshman at dartmouth, it kicks ass. If you want to play a sport, i highly recommend talking to the coaches, becuase it definitely helps get you in if you are recruited. It is very tough to get into otherwise, but once you are here, the kids are all real chill. Definitely the chill/party school of the ivies, plus you get a really good education. Dartmouth schedule is off from usual, i start classes tommorow. But, if you can come here, definitely try because i love it. The party scene is all frats, lots of keystone light and pong (with paddles no beirut shit), and not too much weed/other drugs. But, if you really want to toke up you can find frats/kids who do, its not hard at all.

^Weed is hard to come by right now, but if you know the right people you can get hooked up with good shit... soon the campus will have more suppliers. As for other drugs, you name it we have it here right now. everyone just wants the bud
