What can I do for cracks in the base?

I brought my skis into my local shop and they filled In all the scratches in my bases for free. You could probably find a DIY kit somewhere I've seen them online before.

ptex, go to your shop and pick up some clear ptex candles and a metal base scraper

light the candle and let it drip onto the scraper until the flame is hot enough and there's no black oxidation in the ptex

drip the ptex into the hole, overfill it, let it cool, then scrape off excess at 45 degree angle

Really? That seems generous of them. I don't think I'll be that lucky being like an hour from my closest shop..

Thanks though.

In b4 goat semen.

Cracks or gouges? Bases generally only "crack" when the structure of the ski above them is ruined and the skis usually need to be thrown in the bin.

If the damage is within the thickness of the base material, a ptex candle or similar will work. If the damage is beside the edge or through to the core, I'd recommend a base patch, where the damaged piece of base is cut out and a new piece of base epoxied in, followed by a base grind to flatten it all out.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, scratches on the base that make one feel a little worried about their girlfriend/boyfriends. In that case I think I'm good.

I actually went in to get my skis remounted and they pointed out that they did it afterwards. Whole thing was free of charge. Potter brothers NY is seriously amazing.

1.)buy ptex.

2.) light ptex and drip into core shots

3.) let dry

4.) Scrap off excess ptex to make ski even

5.) your skis look much better know don't they?

I actually filled them with my love and they're healing right now. Thanks for the info though ;)

Do you mean scratched or gouged I can't imagine them cracking if that's the case then I think there's a bigger problem going on
