What camera should I buy

I already have the gopro hero 3 silver and white but I'm looking for a better camera, like the canon t3 or the dslr. I don't want to buy something ridiculously expensive I can probably drop like $500 give or take. I really don't know a lot about cameras. Thanks for reading

Have a look at sony. Something like the a57 or a65. They are pretty kick ass for the price.

Also my a65 shoots 10 frames per second which is awesome for action shots (which skiing obviously is)

Good all round camera. Nikon and Canon are good but they aren't the only options which alot of people will tell you they are

he's probably talking about the frame rate of the stills not the video. so 10fps is very good.

Sorry I was referring to stills. It takes 10 fps for stills.

For video it's 60fps in full 1080.

I don't shoot a whole lot of video with mine but what I have is pretty crisp

Like 10fps in a camera at the pricepoint of the a65 is super impressive. To get that in a canon or nikon you are going to spending ALOT more
