I am looking for a camera under 1000 with a lense that is pretty easy to use. I want something that I will be able to buy more lenses for in a while, but comes with a lense that works well enough. I have used a canon eos 20d a few times and like it alot so maybe something ike that... I don't really know what to look for, any ideas?

I would suggest getting a Rebel Xti just because its a cheap camera and you can use the extra money left over for some really nice glass. It has alot of features that more expensive cameras have except it only goes to i think 3-4 fps. i could be wrong though. and it also lacks a 2x iso multiplier which is sad. but its an awesome camera for the price.

you should check out the nikon d40x 10.2 megapixels i have this camera and i love it. it comes with a 18-55mm lens it takes some great photos and is very easy to use. here is a few pictures i have taken with it

Eh, I picked an XTi over the 20D when I got my camera and kind of regret it. It's a nice camera, but for skiing and biking I think the 20D would be noticably better. You should be able to get the body and a nice lens for around $100, but you might be able to do better if you're a thrifty shopper.

WTF 100$ WHAT!!!? oh a nice lense for a hun OKAY clears something up..i have a 20 D SICK AS FUCK pick it up right now and its built to last too

If you've already got some Canon lenses then I would say stick with Canon. I'm a nikon shooter but I have shot the 20D and the 30D and both are great cameras. The d40x, though a decent entry level cam, is limited on lenses that can be used. If you are leaning towards Nikon I would suggest the D60 or D80. Both very good cams, at least 10meg, not limited on lenses. If your limit is 1000, don't cheat yourself, both of those you can get under 1000.

wait for the cannon rebel XSi- it will have 5 fps with 12 megapixel for 900 with lens- im selling my rebel xt for it

I agree with him, its coming out really soon and you can use any cannon lense with it. just read a couple articles on it, looks like a very capable mid level camera. the 3" screen + a viewfinder is nice to have. Also, you dont want your camera to be super heavy when your out on the slopes, just helps to cut weight wherever you can. I'd go with the Rebel XSi which is also known as the 450D

it totally depends on how into photography you want to get,. first off, nikon is the best choice hands down. i would recomend getting a D80. I have one and it is outstanding. But if you just want the bascis a D40 or 40x would do just fine
