what camera does everyone use here, what digital camera do you tihnk i should get if i get oneN?
 
I use a 1970s 'Yashica' camera for stills, and a crappy $99 one for action shots. I also use a Sony digicam, but it isn't that great! I don't know too much about digicams, but what I do know is that the ones that use disks generally aren't that great! They're convenient because you can bring along a hundred disks with ya. But every shot takes 5 seconds or so to save, so if you're trying to take a lot of shots quickly, it's compeltely useless. Also, the Sony one that I have messed up a lot and some of the pictures get corrupted.

Anyone else?!
 
I think that digital cameras have breathed new life into the art by making it cheaper, faster and less pretentious. They have sent photography back into the streets, so to speak. In about 10 years the resolution of digital vs. silver image will be the same.
 
To achieve SLR quality on a digital you are almost forced to spend in the realm of $1000 to $6000 to get a digital slr (low end being the olympus digital slrs with non-detatchable lens and high end being the canon digital slr which is basically an EOS-1N with the guts replaced with a CCD and an LCD)

However, I'm more of a beginner and I use my old Olympus OM-2 with either a 50mm or a 30-70mm.
 
you tihnk i should go with a canon, i wont be buying it now, but i wanna film and amke a sk8 and ski movi or sometihn, cause i am pretty good at filming

i seen a couple of nice sony digi video cams and some nive jvc and canon but i am not planning on buying it anytime soon, it costs a lot, but i want a big storage capacity that hold more than 5 miinutes of footage
 
I have a JVC GR-DVF11 miniDV camcorder and it rocks. It was only $420 with 3 tapes which each hold an hour of video in high quality mode. I have filmed amost half an hour with it and really like it. JVC makes great low-end digi camcorders. The low end sony ones use Hi8 tapes and don't get the quality possible with miniDV tapes.

I have the olympus om-2, it's really good even though it's like 15+ years old. It's never let me down yet!
 
i've got a Pentax mz-50 SLR .. it sucks.... stupid Pentax.. there lenses aren't compatible w/ lenses of other brands!!!!!!!!!! but it takes good pics...... LAAAAATES
 
i have the same shitty pentax!! hahahahaha yeah but whatever. i just take my brother's good camera.

i'd have to say canon makes the best shit in the world. i have a canon optura dv. it's my baby.

but for digital cameras, and not video, i think that i'm a sonyphile.
 
the canon optura dv is tight, but the canon XL1 is where it is at, for the most professional looking stuff, a lot of the the stuff you see in dki and snowboard movies, if not shot on 16 mm is shot on the XL1. It is really a powerhouse, it breaks down small, but it has it's shortcomings also. Anything with batteries can be sketchy in cold weather and the lens that comes with it doesn't go very wide.
 
You should be able to find a wide angle lens for it. go to the canon website and look it up. I've had no problems with my JVC in cold weather.

i use a 20 yr old canon. works good for now, but i want to get one that can take 4 pics a second so i can make sequence shots and shit. i'm not really into video so i just have a pos jvc tape recorder thingy. by the way, i'm looking for used canon lenses and filters-- email me if you have anything to offer. snowstud1080@hotmail.com
 
I have a nikon n80, which i am looking to sell. I also have various Nikon lenses for sale so if anyone is interested pm me.

For video, i have a canon optura and it is pretty sick, but i think Nikon makes the best still cameras. I love my n80 and my dad's d70. Everyone I know who is really into photography use Nikon or say that Nikon is their favorite.
