what came first?

if my memory serves me right, there have been twin tip skis produced as far back as the 70s, far before skiboarding

K2 made the poacher a while before skiboards as we know them today, came to the market. The poacher was a little before its time, no one knew quite what to do with it.

If you remember back to the first X games that skiing was included in (with the skier cross that everyone got fucked up in) there were no full length twin tip skis. BUT ski boarding was an event, slopestyle. the 1080 and the enemy didn't emerge till the next season.

So ya unless you count the mark 4, which was a totaly joke, no one was skiing around on them fakie and doing shit, and the poacher, which no one seemed to know about, I'd say YES skiboards were out and about before the twin tip ski as we know it today.

jibtech you are an amzing creature, everytime you come out with some shit that no one knows about. you are a freak, i bet you have a library of everything that happens at the snow to do with skiing and snowboarding for the past 30 years.

lol yeah dave does know too much

We found some twin tipped 230cm dynastars at the second hand store in whistler last week...olin mark 4s get all the credit as being the first twin but these had to have been around the same time.

holy crap, and here am i thinking salomon brought out the first twinnie, i feel so lesser to you people.

I think the poacher came out before the verts... I had a pair of poachers when the verts first came out... I think... Hey, I still have those poachers too! I'm keepin' em for ever!

But to respond to this thread, I would have to say that skiboards were the first actual 'twin tips' as the poacher was technically just a ski with a turned up tail... I know this sounds really gay to bring in the technicallities but according to the term 'twin tip' I would say Line was the first company to step up...

the olin mark 4 was used for switch skiing. An old ski racer used them to ski switch to film a james bond movie, that was what they were designed for. thanks

The salomon snowblade was sold in stores the same year as the Rossi twin tip. It was called the Vert and there other one that came in that sorta series or whatever was called the Ross E knoll but it wasnt a twin. Vinnie D, however, was on them in state of mind the summer before they were released in stores. But i think that Line skiboards came slightly before salomons snowblade, just werent really known or considered in the market yet. And what about that Bigfoot that came out. Is it a skiboard?

i think k2 came out with twin awhile back not the poacher i forgot what it was called it was like the pipe something or other still need some pics thou...

Bottom line everything sucks -Seth Morrison

There is a skiing film from the 1930's showing a guy with wodden twintips. So I guess that skis have had twins longer than ski boards :D

Freshies for a week after a dump? Temple Basin - Hell Yeah!

heres the order, its right, and theres no need to dispute it.

olin markV, rossi vert, dynastar twinboard, and then the poacher.

but the poacher was the first of the new ones that acually had a resonable length and flex pattern, the vert and the dynastar were both short and soft as hell.

My friend pulled out his dads mark 4's and after about 3 runs he put them on the rack and rented some skis. The mark 4's hadnt been waxed or sharpened in about 30 years.

Have any of you guys got a digital camera, if you dont your neighbors or someone you know will, so can you get it and take a photo of the old school twinnies so the rest of us know what they look like. thanks

THREDBO'S BETTER

have you guys ever seen the Kneissel Big Feet, would you guys consider those ski boards. if so then I'm pretty sure they came out in like the early 90's if not earlier. The US distribution center used to be like 30 seconds from my dads shop. We call them 'Fag Feet' around here. The only people that use them anymore are queers from miami beach that come up around CHristmas and MLK Day wearing like leather stretch pants and jackets and hair all slicked back. Pretty funny.

Blizzard Hotdogs.

Freesytle skis from the 70's. Metal topsheet with silver and blinding orange stuff on them. Almost as much tip in the back as my Concepts.

My uncle still rides them.

problem solved, now i wanna know what came first a dick or a pussy??

-jon, skiing the ice so the other half of the country doesnt have to.

yes, the verts i remember them they came in like 153 right or something like that, the poacher was a bump ski with a twin tip, or something i don't know
