What bindings are good for me?

I am not sure what bindings to get so if u guys could help me that would be great.

-I weigh 140 lbs (63 kg) and i am 5'7 ft tall (175 cm).

-I ski 60% groomers, 20% crud, 15% trees and pow, 5% park.

-I ski kinda fast but not mach 5 type fast, i like to hit natural features and only go in the park a little bit and when i do, a 360 on a small jump is my best trick. I would consider myself an intermediate/advanced skier.

-I am/will be on skis around 100mm waist.

-I don't want to get bindings that are too good for me (like pivot 18's or jester pros) because parkrats always judge me cause i'm not that good.

-I am just looking for a binding that suits my type of skiing and that have a din range that i will fit in.

Thanks NS.

Don't listen to the numb-nuts that try to mend your style. I agree that 18 din bindings are too much for you, mainly because of your size, but don't let kids tell you that you are not good enough.

I think pivot 12's would be great judging by the info that you provided. Have fun and be yourself homie.

Thanks dude. How about pivot 14's cause there is a good deal on them at my local shop.

STH2 for sure. They're durable, have just as much elasticity, most come with 5 year warranty, low ramp angle, low stack height, and adjustable. Just a solid binding. They also have a wide screw set which helps with torque/power especially on a wider ski.

Also if something goes wrong with the brakes you aren't out $100

I would go for Salomon sth2 13s or pivot 12/14s. Find either under $200 and pull the trigger on whats cheaper. Both are real solid, and release well.

Thanks so much. How about the STH 10 or the STH 12. Is there much of a difference between the STH2 13 and the STH 12 besides the din range?

Theres a huge difference. The 10/12 din models are on the older STH, you should definitely go with the STH2, which only offers the 13 or 16 din. Im 5'7 135 pounds and I used the 13 din,

Honestly I laugh when people say "you don't need a high din binding", because its really not good to ride the din maxed out anyway so if you can get a binding and go low on the din you're keeping that spring it good shape.

for reference I ride my STH2 13s at a 9. So in a few years when I get bigger and ski even better Ill probably go with the STH2 16.. but hopefully by then it will be the STH3;)

Do you know much about pivot 14's. Would they be good for me. And are fks the same as pivots?

Yes fks are same as pivots. And yeah I guess they could be good for you but like I said I'd go with STH2 over the pivot/fks.

You're not riding much park, so no need to worry about breaking fks brakes landing switch. Fks 140, or sth 2 13. Get whichever one you can buy the cheapest. I own and ride both bindings. Can't go wrong either way.

So just to things clear, are pivot 14's the same as fks140's? I've done some of the din calculator things and it recommends me at a 6.5 ish. If I were to get pivot 14's and set the din to 6.5 ish, would it be bad for the bindings to have them set close to the bottom of the din range (5-14 range for the piv 14)? Are the piv 14's to good for me?

Yes, they are the same construction. I think the 14 would work for you because it's better to have a higher din binding at 6.5 than to have a lower din binding at 6.5. once you get close to the max din on a binding, it can wear them out.

Pivots and FKS are the exact same thing. Just rebranded. Tyrolia does this and so does the STH2 (Salamon and Atomic make the STH2).

Like I said before, you can ride the din as low as possible, better to ride it low than max it out and out lots of pressure on the spring.

It sounds like you're leaning more towards the FKS/pivot? I'd still recommend the STH2 for a number of reasons but the FKS will work for you if that's what you want or what you have found.

Yep as mentioned above, fks and pivots are the same. Illuminati confirmed.

as for my ideal binding, it would be an sth2 toe, and an fks heel. So pick your poison.

Cant go wrong either way. Good luck m9
