What are your favourite old school rap artists/songs

So much good old hip hop.

Excursions by ATCQ is one of my favorites

"And appreciated, cause were ever so glad we made it

We work hard, so we gotta thank god

Dishin out the plastic, do the dance till you spastic

If you dis... it gets drastic

Listen to the rhymes, cuz it's time to make gravy

If it moves your booty, then shake, shake it baby"

One of the best flows in hip hop history

tribe called quest

i listen to absolutely no rap, besides tribe and like eric b and such artists. really anything by tribe makes me very happy. midnight marauders, low end theory, monumental. and super old school like grandmaster flash is tite

DJ Kool Herc is the realest OG.

I'll post some of my favourites when I get back from wing night!

Anything from Tribe is bomb. Get some stuff from the D.O.C., De La Soul, Eric B. and Rakim, Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth, Naughty By Nature, Jurassic 5, and the teacher, KRS-One.

i dont really like jurassic five that much. but method man is always good, rakim, and tribe called quest i enjoy.

i feel like no one on NS gives Too $hort any love. hell, most of you probably haven't even ever heard of him (/hipster), but he's fucking awesome.

I've been listening to a lot of nas lately.

Illmatic is crazy good as a whole. And I'm going to see Red & Meth in June so I'm pumped

Any word on when their new albums are dropping this year? I saw claims from both saying that this year there will be a muddy waters 2 and method's album will be called crystal meth. Possibly a Blackout 3 droppin too.

Anyways, lately i've been bumping this

Yeh he spoke briefly about crystalmeth back in march when I saw him in montreal , he said something along the lines of get ready for it , it's not like shit you've heard from me before.

Children Of The Corn (Early Big L, Cam'ron and Mase)

Bomb Squad (Early Jadakiss and Sheek Louch)

Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood by DMX

HNIC by Prodigy

Warriorz by MOP

Double Up By Mase

Ruff Ryders Volumes

Any LOX (Not their first album as much)

Old Fabolous freestyles.

Not much else, I used to like 90's stuff but I moved much more towards newer stuff, so I'll just continue listening to Slime Flu 2 & 3.

To add to that:

That song just makes me want to bust heads.

Nas would be working the streets still if it wasn't for Serch:

Same goes for these guys if it wasn't for KRS:

Classic Eric B and R:

Pre Wu-Tang RZA and a spin off collective of Stetsasonic. Back when Horrorcore rap was developing:

That's that grimy sounding hip hop. I'm stoked Tribe was mentioned right away!

What's oldschool without Big Daddy:

The best of the oldschool, before anyone what hippity hop was:

I don't understand how people can listen to that new shit when this stuff is still around. Oldschool for days.

Anything E&A is gold, but I had never heard that first one. Sooo sick! RIP Eyedea.

This one video contains so much hip hop greatness. I love it. It's like a rap museum.
