Crazy, I just finished reading Man's Search for Meaning by Frankl, and I'm about to start Ishmael for school. But I just read a horribly written book intended for 7th graders at the best for my 'Honors English' class. We had a really strong English program, but then the sophomore teacher left to go teach at the new charter school. It really sucks. I definitely learned a lot more last year.

Girls don't like sensitive guys. Since I don't treat women like objects, I have to treat objects like women.

And for America, there will be no going back to the era before September the 11th, 2001 — to false comfort in a dangerous world. We have learned that terrorist attacks are not caused by the use of strength; they are invited by the perception of weakness. And the surest way to avoid attacks on our own people is to engage the enemy where he lives and plans. We are fighting that enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan today so that we do not meet him again on our own streets, in our own cities. - George W. Bush

Chuck Palahniuk's new one DIARY. It's good. If you guys haven't read any of his books, you must, i think most of you on this site will like it. He is the guy that wrote Fight Club, and Lullaby, all of his books are awesome. I am also re reading Hunter S Thompson's fear and loathing in las vegas and other american tales. This book is so much better than the film. Even though the movies was good. Really check out Chuck, good stuff.

yeah, i want diary, ive read all his other books and they kick ass... choke and lullaby were a little subpar but invisibale monsters, fight club and survivor are great. ive even read his guide to portland, fugitives and refugees... and it turns out portland has crazy shit. michael crichton is also a pimp. despite some of the lame movies made out of his books, hes an amazingly well informed writer who can take a currently controversial or interesting topic and turn it into an amazingly entertaining story. but he is a crazy hippie who says he can see peoples auras...

You guys have some great books listed here, Slaughterhouse 5, 1984, Kool-Aid Test- can you imagine Tom Wolfe with all these cranked up Hell's Angels and hippies. My girlfriend is reading the Davinci Code she loves it. Another great author is

Chuck Palahniuk he wrote Fight Club, Lullaby, and Diary.

Bret Easton Ellis is my favorite writer, but the movies kind of spoil his books, American Psycho is my favorite book ever, but it is a little graphic for you youngsters.

Me Talk Pretty Some Day is hilarious stories by this gay guy.

Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins is great as well.

Please Kill Me is a great collection of interviews of the prepunk and punk era of the 70s.

Heavier than Heaven is really good about Cobain

But actually at this moment I am reading a history of the U.S. Navy

The Enlightenment, part of euro history course, awesome...or plus chemistry, about the ions and junk I don't understand, yay.

-Pat

yeah chuck's guide to portland is awesome, and funny. I don't know if I would call any of his work subpar, but i know what you mean. I did enjoy lullaby though, especailly the judas cow part, kind of hard to eat meat after that. I met him at a reading at UW last year and got my books signed, you should check out one of his readings if you ever get the chance, you get a good sense of the tone he trys to set.

What do you all think of Vonnegut? He's one of my favorite authors- his style of writing is incredible, and he's got such a twisted perspective of the world...actually, it's not so much twisted as much as it is the truth...
