Long vs. short skis?

I am 5'8 1/2' and I like shorter skis, like a 165. I used to ski long skis for racing, but now that there are parabolics it seems like everyone is skiing shorter skis now. It is soooo much easier to turn and stuff. plus when you catch air, it helps spinning.

anywhere from the top of your head to your upper lip is good. any below your mouth is pussy. my skis are currently pushing it cause i was too poor to buy new skis this year

^Pussy? Isnt that a little harsh? My skis go to my adam's apple. that is not because I am a pussy, it is because i like to ski shorter skis. i can make really quick turns on them.

My scrathces I got this year are about up to my nose with ski boots on. Some people say that ski size, or at least def. flex is about your weight so lighter people might even want to ski a junior ski.

 
im 5' 8' and ski 168 scratches. not to short not to long. however i respect any one who skis huge skis like plake. my friend can do 1080's on 195's. he's like 6'2'' though

Your height doesnt matter when you choose a ski, its all based on your weight and ability. So basically you all have no idea what your talking about.

^ I agree, when getting skis you cant base it all on height because someone that really short but really good could probably handle long skis.

ur skis should be a lil less than your height, but if u wanna b cool, ive got some 1981 rossie neon skis, theyre 225s, so they might be lil small but im sure u can get by

I ski 185's and I definetly wouldn't go any shorter. I tried my friends 181 1080's the other day and they just didn't seem like enough ski.

i ride 182s and i can do short turns too so blah, i can go faster, land easier off jumps, and ski in powder better than if i had short skis. still want short skis?

just a tad under 6ft and skiing on 181s...there just a little shorter then me and there work good everyweere

5'7 and using the 176 scratch fs... i had the 168 line 1260's a few years ago and i will never go back. easier to land on longer skit

longer skis help you stay balanced and stable, I'm 5'11' (180 cm) and I ride 169cm Fujatives and I wish I had bought 179. I can't imagine riding on skis that only come to my adams apple, it's rediculous
