What are the top 3-5 things that influence your style (of skiing)?

Style is obviously a huge part of skiing. Some people have it, some people don't. And some people say "who gives a f*ck?". There's countless things that influence a person's style and I know it's different for everybody, and it probably changes throughout your life.

I want to hear what you think are the top influential agents on the development of your style.

Here is a list of my own to give you an idea of what I'm talkin about. This is a personal list and is only the way I feel about it right now. It was different when I was younger and will probably continue to change:

1.My friends and the feedback they give me. if a buddy says "Dude that was sick!" i'm going to do it again, only better.

2. Random shredders on the mountain. Even though what you see at your ski hill may not be as epic or huge as the stuff pros throw down in movies, you're right there experiencing it in person. This definitely has a greater impact on me than ski movies, probably due to the fact that, these days, everything you see in a ski film is just fucking ridiculously crazy...

3. Ski movies...obviously.

4. the Soul. I didn't know where to put this one because ultimately I think it's number one. But the soul, for the most part, is something intangible and it's really hard to prove it has an effect on anything. But I believe that if you feel connected and are aware of your soul, it can be the most powerful influential agent, ever.

5. Time spent on the mountain. This one is for the sake of logic. If you don't spend time skiing, you won't develop as tyle. And typically, the more time you spend on skis the more you are able to develop your style!

Stoked to see what everyone has to say!

1.The music listen to, and music I create.

2. Other skiers (movies, edits, kids on hill)

3. My friends and the stupid shit we encourage each other to do.

Garrett is a big influence on the way I look at skiing. Just go out, do your own thing and have fun.

Skiing with people that have a lot of stoke can easily make your style better. when i skied with b dog and henrik I got a lot more style fo sho

Whatever music I'm listening to. My mood and edits that I've recently seen, for example if the most recent edit I had seen was that Maks Gorham at Keystone edit, I'd be all "Uh! Wreck shit!" or at least try. Also, my lankiness. It severely limits my style.

A lot of my influence comes from the people I ski with. Doesn't matter if i'm with old shred buddies or a new crew, I'm always admiring the styles or others and then trying to incorporate the things I like into my own style.

Feedback from friends is also really motivational for pushing my style.

Ski movies are always ridiculous so it's fun to take a little out of those and try to put it to use in your own way.

But, I also think my style changes from day to day when I ski. It might depend on the conditions or the crew I'm riding with, or maybe just how I'm feeling individually- and my skiing style is just an expression of how i'm feeling each day. That's what makes each person's style unique!

This!

It's all about how comfortable I am with something, whether it's the trick or the feature. Also if I'm tired that will play a huge part in my style and trick selection

I can't really say I am influenced by anyone. I just ski the way I ski, I don't try to emulate some pro.

1. Cannabis2. Maxing out the fun of a run, or line. (then making the next one step more fun etc.)

3. Perception (skiing related, the ability to visualize / see things in new ways or forms)

4. Creativity (from ideas to tricks)

5. B Dog and Delorme's butters

In terms of pros, I like Delorme, B-Dog, Kenworthy, Ian Compton, and Cole Drexler.

I also really like skiing pipe, maybe even more than park. So I guess influence from there comes from guys like Kevin Rolland, David Wise, TYW, etc.

other people - when i watch a certain style of skiing or see someone with a certain style of clothing and think to myself "that's pretty sick, i need to try that out" that's a big influence.

money - how often i can afford to ski, where i get to ski, and what apparel and equipment i can get my hands on have a big impact on the type of person i am and the type of skiing i do.

personal comfort - i'm very picky when it comes to comfort in fit and material with equipment and clothing, and on the slope there are certain things i just don't enjoy which influences how i ski. other things make me feel stupid, so i always steer clear of that direction.

1) my own style/ whether i like doing something e.g. when i ride bmx i spend a lot more time doing street shit in the park than actual park riding...2) BMX: if i learnt a new trick a few days ago on my bike, i'll instantly try to do the equivalent of it on skis

3) Music for the obvious reasons

4) Being way too over ambitious... i see something from the lift, it looks cool, i'll wanna do it, whether its within my capabilities or not...

5) The people i ski with e.g. on groomers my mate skis in, i guess what you could call, the old style, which i love the look of so i try to imitate occasionally

1. easily my friends and older brother. They push me to be better, my friends and i always set each other up for greatness. We find those drops, those amazing rails that everyone avoids, and the trees that everyone shreds, but we make it better. My brother is a much better skier than me, but i continue to go harder, faster, and crazier than him everytime we ski together. He is much more technical and loves his moguls, but i love the trees and park. we both push each other through the sections we arent good at and i feel that makes our style that much better.

2. the mountains - i feel the mountains i ride also shape my style, new mountains im much more cautious and will take my time, like a gaper, but on my home monutains i shred like i own it. I hit everything and anything i can on my home mountain, lead the death trains, and win the spin comps, but on new mountains im playing follow the leader, checking my landings, watching others go and play it safe.

3. my last one has to be you guys on the forums. I come here to learn, ask questions, try and help others. you guys make me better in every way. I learn about new skis, how to hit new rails, how to spin better, etc. I have to say thanks.
