Curious how you rate each mountain?

Perks of each? Not much of a park skier any more and was thinking about shooting out in January....if I didn't go here are there other resorts you would recommend?

Thanks

Yeah I had a good look at each mountain's trail map and I'm thinking Northstar isn't for us.....while I ski the park casually the rest of my friends are anti park.

How's snow typically in January?

N* park=gold, but too crowded on weekends, tues wed thu northstar is awesome however its the last place i want to be on the weekends because of the lines. Heavenly is great too, a little farther away from me but definitley worth the drive, dont like their parks as much although they are still really good, and lines are better......gondolas freak me out

but for real, squaw-pine pass is where its going to be at

If you're not a park skier don't go to either. IMO they are two of the lamest resorts in Tahoe and I think most will agree with you.

I would choose about 5 resorts in Tahoe before I would ski N* and Heav.

Why are you so set on those two? Check out Kirkwood, Sierra, Mt Rose, Squaw, Alpine. All of those are better options than the above two shitty vail resorts. Hell even sugar bowl if we get good early snow.

I'm 25....and while for a long time Freeway at Breck was my jam I've move on from the park.

Heavenly and Northstar are free b/c I have a Vail pass and my buddies and I do a ski trip each January (Jackson, Crested Butte and then SLC last year)....if I come out I'll definitely ski another mountain but I really don't like buying full price tickets.

Go to Heavenly. There's better non-park terrain, and it's easier to escape the crowds usually. Also, Northstar sucks because you have to park in what seems as far as fucking kansas and shuttle in. Then you have to walk about another mile uphill through their stupid village.

At Heavenly, you park at one of their lodges (there's like 4 of them if you include parking in the Harrah's Casino Parking lot - where I usually park) and then at the end of the day, you can apres by throwing 20 down on red, and get a few drinks in town... its pretty cool. I actually like that about the heave.

There's also a lot more terrain to explore at Heavenly, and there's actually some really fun stuff off the beaten path. Is it as awesome as SquAwlpine or Kirkwood? No... but it's many times better than northstar if you're not he least bit interested in going to ski park all day long, dealing with the most n00b crowds this side of the mississippi, getting your pass pulled by 'captain safety' for 'skiing too fast', or playing human slalom.

Alright - much appreciated everyone.....sounds like Heavenly is the way to go with another day at Squaw or Kirkwood.

Cheers,

G
