What adhesive/material to keep bindings from ever coming out?

So my sth16's have broken and I'm sending them back in to salomon for repair. My other set is going to be put on the same day I take the broken ones off.

Now my question is, what is the best adhesive (epoxy, glue, gorilla glue, etc.)?

Should I put some type of filler into the mix as well (steel wool, fiberglass pieces, etc.)?

All ideas/thoughts will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

I've used these on 2 different pairs of skis all season and no issue with pull out or vibration loosening.

Don't use epoxy or gorilla glue. If the ski has a proper construction, you should only use something that will act as a seal to prevent water from getting in the core. I often use regular wood glue, but I think polyurethane glue seals better. You shouldn't need any glue to prevent the bindings from ripping out. if you are mounting them by yourself, hand tighten with a posi-driver until you can't turn them anymore. It's important to start them by hand to make sure the threads are going down straight. You can use a drill after you start them for a couple turns, and then finish them by hand. Make sure you don't have too much torque on the drill, otherwise you might strip the holes. When you finish them by hand, you can crank them pretty hard until you get that final set. If you get a spinner, back out the screw and put a little steel wool with the polyurethane glue in the hole. Don't use the drill at this point. Just screw them in by hand until it feels as tight as you are going to get, then let it dry. You should be ok if you only have one spinner per heel and toe piece.

if the holes are not stripped then just use wood glue and gently screw in your bindings without over tightening. i've remounted many pairs of skis in the same holes and never had an issue using wood glue

if the holes are stripped consider helicoils or if only one hole is stripped then put epoxy and bits of steel wool in the hole

there's a kind of mounting where a chunk is cut out of the base and the bindings are literally bolted to the ski and then the base is replaced. that will never come out but it is also entirely unnecessary. it takes a lot to rip out properly mounted bindings

BINDINGS NOT FUCKING BINDERS

If you never want the bindings to come out, you can use 2 part epoxy. i've done this before and when it was time to take the bindings off the skis to put on a new pair, I couldn't get them out. I had to drill through the screws to get the bindings off. techs don't recommend this, but you bindings won't ever pull out. but you might have to ruin the hardware if you want to reuse the bindings on another pair of skis.

a method to try if you have glued or epoxyed the screws in and cant get them out: take a soldering iron( plugged in obiously) and hold the tip on the screw you want to take out. The screw will heat up and soften the glue some so you can get it out. It has worked really well for me, i use gorrila wood glue. ive done this with epoxy as well.

Thanks guys! Think I'm gonna go with epoxy. If something happens with that, then I'll go with quiverkillers

2-part epoxy won't really do much, all you're doing is gluing the screw to the wood. When you get a pull-out 99% of the time the screws are covered in little pieces of your core anyway, they just rip the wood straight out.If you don't want rip-outs then the key is to use a larger, coarser thread into the ski, like a brass threaded insert where you drill the hole out larger, screw the insert in then use machine screws (which damn near never pull out because it's metal on metal) to increase contact area.Or, as mentioned, if you want the ultimate in never-ever-ever-come-out then you drill right through the ski with a larger bit, cut pieces out of the base, insert T-nuts with epoxy from the bottom of the ski, smash them in, then patch the base. If you ever managed to pull one of them out you would have to make the core pretty much splinter first.
