What actually happened to people shooting at chads gap

I haven't seen every single movie in the last few years, but no one even seems to shoot there anymore.

Also, I can't be alone in actually wanting to know how the hell you get to chads gap. Maybe inside all the dumb crap people are bout to post someone will just give some damn directions.

It is really a shame if we can't even talk about the damn mound anymore because of the meme.

in before ski patrol blew it up

I was wondering about this too. Imagine if MSP or Field Productions had a really sick shoot up there? They definitely have the athletes, equipment, and ability more than ever to put together a really sick segment or short film even.

there's no big secret to this question-- it's just that chad's is a big ass scary gap that is a big undertaking and needs decent conditions to be hit. pair that with the fact that most people/companies wouldn't consider it worthwhile to go do unless they were going to up the ante (something "better" than a sw9 or a dub 10....!!) and you can see why it's not constantly in pro movies

i wish it were hit more but what can ya do? there's only so much time and money each winter

Besides like maybe a grand total of 10 days in the last 3 years, there hasn't been enough snow or good enough conditions to hit it safely.

Besides that, like it was said above, if someone goes back they will have to do something to step up and be bigger than the last people who hit it. Because the conditions and snowpack have sucked there's been no opportunity to do that.

From what I've heard from people the inrun requires a shit ton of digging. So probably because its really dangerous and a huge pain in the ass.

pyramid gets hit by Am crews fairly often, conditions allowing, but even that is a full 3 day commitment from a large group of people just to hit it the third day. The commitment to set up and hit chads is sooo much more intense than anything else, the run is hairier and longer, and considering that there are probably 25 "perfect" jump spots in a 400 acre area (give or take) that is the main area of grizzley gulch that you can build and be hitting in a matter of hours...it just doesnt make sense to set up chads. unless, as mentioned every post, you are doing something new and different.

I remember hearing some rumors about somebody wanting to hit chads this season, anything come of that?

NO STOP ASKING SHIT ALL IS GETTING DONE ON CHADS FOR THE REST OF ETERNITY ITS CALLED INCENTIVE AND THERE IS NONE

I heard it takes along time and commitment to set up chads gap.

Oh and also the conditions haven't been that great this year.

lol

The reason why no one hits chads gap anymore because you need to build a massive jump that takes like 3 days to make, then have a pro risk breaking his back while gaping it.

do you really want me to give directions on how to get to Chads Gap. I kinda like how most people dont know even though its pretty easy to get to

Ski Patrol really did blow it up. Or they tried at least.

You just have to park at the bottom of Alta then walk east past some houses and towards Grizzly Gulch and look for it.

"Ski patrol blew it up" is such a cliche it seems like a joke . How would they even blow it up? They couldn't blow up the landing that would require a lot of explosives. Also why would the alta ski patrol have jurisdiction over something in the backcountry?

google tanner hall chads gap crash and watch the first video that comes up

Of course I've seen that but I feel like that was worst case scenario. The snow doesn't look that deep and he landed exactly on the knuckle

They would blow up the landing. It's just mine tailings so not solid rock. With the right explosives it could be demolished fairly easily I would imagine. But I'm no demolitionist.

I'm pretty sure after Tim threw a dub 10 on it, everyone said fuck it.

Thanks for the knowledge. But, you don't HAVE to step it up, could just add style.

And why didn't Tim's dub ten make it beyond the revolver trailer? I've never understood why it wasn't in the movie.

Also there were 2 of these threads, cause i double clicked on post, hopefully eheath deletes the other one, but member "Holte" actually google mapped directions.

If there's a lot of snow is it even that dangerous? I've seen footage of people slamming but being ok bc of pow

it absolutely is, but there have definitely been times when there was so much snow that coming up 1000% short didn't injure the rider. but that's with a ton of snow. tanner and jon hit it in the spring, that shit was no joke at all. pretty fucking insane. i mean, there were snowless patches around...

ski patrol tried to blow up the KICKER and the joke blew up from there. it didn't even work, though-- the jump was huge and well built. someone told me that snow from the jump lasted well into the summer that year

tim's dub 10 was in the movie, but revolver was such a long poorly edited movie that by the time it came around i wasn't even that stoked. i'd be livid if i was tim d

Let's not forget that Wilson's Chads Gap footage has still yet to be revealed.

that's the real problem. why wouldn't that shit be in the movie? probably sponsorship issues or whatever but wtf......

I think there's a photo sequence floating around somewhere of Wilson overshooting Chads to the flats pretty much

Tim is a demolitionist (in every sense of the word). You should ask him when he gets back.

Pretty much this. The Wasatch has had shit all for snowpack the last 3 seasons. Most days the landing is just dirt.

Why don't you consider adding style a form of stepping up?

Anyways, that's still hard to do on something as gnarly as chads. It's honestly insane that people hit that thing.

i cant believe someone actually considered the physics of blowing up chads gap/ questioned the line which has been a rallying cry for ns for the last decade.

come up grizz with me i'll show you why and how chads gap is so impossibly insane.

Chad's gap in the summer. The pictures do not do the size justice. In the first shot you can see my bike at the bottom of the picture. So yes the landing would be a massive undertaking to blow up.

love these pics, thanks for posting

also in case anyone's curious, danbrown PMed me and his "are you serious" was a quoting messup and was in regard to the part in my post about ski patrol trying to blow up the kicker. that is the case, and i'm pretty sure there's a shot of it happening at the very end of the credits in TBC... there are a few bears on the kicker and you see the charges blow but the kicker itself remains completely intact

When I imagine the most incredibly segment possible in my head, I imagine the ender being a zero on chads.
