What about Skyrim?!?!?

Yea i know, just at this point in time i dont feel like exploring. I will definitley buy when price drops tho.

WoW takes sooooo much skill and dedication to be good at it. Never say WoW is nerdy, it's no fucking different then playing cod for 6396832507632 hours, it's still a video game. I know multiple marines that are in hard core raiding guilds, these are the kind of guy's that could kill you with their hands, would you call them nerdy? Just because it is a fantasy world does not make it any more nerdy then a fake world war 3.

skill and dedication to a videogame = nerdy

6396832507632 hours towards a videogame = nerdy

You need to change your perception on the term nerd. It's not a bad thing to be interested in school and videogames, etc. rather than jock stuff.

Ok enough about whats nerdy and whats not lets discuss the game.

Im so stoked for the skill tree. It looks like something that will be a even bigger draw to train skills.

Also having one spell in each hand is going to make combat even better.

Whats everyone elses thoughts??

Statements like this really piss me off.

A lot of things are inherently useless - art, music, film, but the things that are "in general...useless" are what makes the human existence more than "short, nasty and brutish".

It's a form of entertainment no more inherently useless than a novel or a blockbuster movie.

Stop your hatin' and GTFO.

Except that so far no one has really elevated the video game to an art form... it's entertainment and nothing more. Effectively, video-games are a complex and flashy time-killer. I wonder what the closest game to actual art would be... probably an RPG. Deus Ex, maybe. Dreamfall had potential.

I see your point - video games are currently pretty purely a method for entertainment.

Although for a medium that has effectively only existed since 1972 (if we take PONG as the first readily available video game) the advances in gaming technology could lead to interesting developments in the interactivity of art. Increasingly interactive sculptures and so forth will probably be the most likely incarnation of video games as art.

Maybe it will take someone to make a game that fundamentally changes the critical attitude towards them. It becomes less about entertaining the player, but more about stimulating, educating or inspiring the player.

You can take inspiration or information from everything you listed. I just dont see the value in video games. Other than something to pass priceless young life away in some kind of fictional quest, or something to do for short times with friends...i cant find another word to use other than useless.

im not going to change anyones mind here. arguing on newschoolers is more useless than anything.

At least we can agree on this.

If you're not keen on video games I have no problem with you, but posting that on a thread filled with people obviously pretty keen on the game seems a little facetious and looking for an argument.

Personally, I lived in a town miles away from all my school friends and with very little to do in the area, that interested me, video games provided me with something to do in the evenings when it was cold and dark and there were was nothing else to do.

That being said I haven't the time any more to play them anymore, but that's cause I moved and live somewhere where there is stuff to do.

I for some reason always end up being a Redguard even though I am an unrepeanting white supremacist :P. The Adrenaline Rush ability from Oblivion was just too good to pass up.

this. so are a lot of japanese games

I'll probably be a dark elf like always, added fire resistance when fighting dragons seems like a no brainer to me, plus then I can be a vampire and the sun won't hurt me nearly as much.

probably going to go nord or red guard, dont know what it is but i think its more fun to use hand to hand combat in oblivion, thats just my opinion

This. dungeons scare me because i cant see anything and im a pussy. need night vision. plus kahjiits are badass.

How have I not heard of this game!! After watching that 20min gameplay Im def. preordering it tomorrow morning. This game will hopefully keep me entertained until Diablo3

It comes out in two days. Doubt most places will let you pre-order the day before it is released when they have copies there.

Just called my local gamestop, said they have plenty of copies left (for xbox) and that I should be able to preorder at 1pm tomorrow!

They even said you can technically preorder at 11pm and get it at midnight launch.

Gamespot gave it a 9.0

IGN gave it a 9.5

gametrailers gave it 9.3

All three said there were lots of bugs(thats half the fun and to be expected). IGN and Gamespot both said it is one of the best games of the year if not all time. I can't wait to play!
