Whast wrong with my ankle!?!

my foot has been messed up since August of last year. I don't remember injuring it really badly, I might have bashed my heel pretty hard but thats the only thing I can come up with. I skied on it all season and survived but I didn't hit any jumps and took alot of pain killers.

For about three months starting in January I went to a physio, I now have orthopedics and really good shoes for my feet but it hasn't helped much.

iv gotten two X-rays with nothing coming up, one bone scan showing there is something wrong but not what, and one CT scan showing nothing. Now my local hospital is telling me I need an MRI and I have to go an hour away to another towns hospital for that.

I haven't been able to run without looking like terry fox for about 5 and a half months now, since November I haven't been about to walk a very long way without limping, and in the past 3 weeks I get such a bad limp and stinging/pulsing/ acing/burning pain that I have to sit down for a little wile.

i'm really sick of it, all the limping is starting to mess up my knee, I have noticeable muscle loss in just the one legg, and people bug me all the time about limping around. I normally am a very active person but now I have to miss PE and ride a stationary bike for half the class so my leg stays strong.

I'm guessing its a long shot because of the luck iv had, but has anyone had a messed up ankle or just bone/ muscle/ anything like this before, because I'm clueless about whats wrong and so is my doctor.

e same problem. depending on what your doing and how hard your doing might be a part of it

you've stopped what you usually do and your ankle it having a problem with it. start builing the strength in it again and put as much range of motiong in it

it might be the bones rubbing agaisnt eachother in the wrong way cause of compress tissue or something minor might have torn and it didnt heal the best way possible just try and get bac kto your old lifestyle and see if that helps. foot beds are only good if your doing a sport not just daily life cause they're personal footbeds but thats from personal experience

what no ones feeling like the ns doctor tonight? and thanks ^ I have been trying to build back the strength and do what I used to, but its very hard right now.

Perhaps, without noticing, you hit chads gap, backwards, spun 900 degrees, hit the wall and broke you ankle. Then you proceeded to scream that your ankle was broken. Yes it does seem unrealistic, however, it has happend before and could very well happen again.

you may have flat feet like a low arch in ur foot can cause heel and ankle problmes i had that problem and my tendon was becoming detached from my growth plate so they went in there drained all the fluid build up and attached that shit back

That could have just been a popped bursa sack. Bursa sacks are what break when your joints get damaged and allow whatever you injured to swell up. Sometimes they just randomly pop if you get some kind of trauma, even if it doesn't result in injury.

ive had a lot of ankle problems in the past so i know what its like. i broke it years ago, had a cyst and got surgery last year, then did it all over again this year but with knee surgery on top of it. just make sure to go get your MRI because those things will tell you whats wrong. if they cant find anything, sadly theyll probably just say go to physical therapy until it gets better

Heres the deal: If a well educated and responsible hospital team cannot figure out whats going on with your ankle, its doubtful a bunch of 13 year old skiers hankering for summer break will.

Lucky for you, you can trust me, as I am a certified doctor. Its gangrene, and you only have a few hours left before it spreads. Go to your kitchen, heat up a knife on a burner to sterilize it best you can. Starting from the back of your ankle, sever your Achilles tendon with a quick strong swipe. Cut the muscle and connective tissue around your ankle, and then break the bone by propping up your leg on cinder blocks and dropping the garage door on it. Oh, and have a hot iron skillet ready and hot to cauterize that boo-boo. This can get a bit messy, so you may want to put a tarp or two down if anyone values the unbloodstained look of the floors and carpets. Best of luck!

haha, perfect answer.

Seriously though, you expect NS'ers to know what it is when radiologists took X-rays, bone scans and a ct scan and still can't figure it out? Have them send your pictures to another doctor and get a second opinion and then get that MRI.

Well I found outs what wrong with my foot!

theres a hole in one of my bones and im going in for surgery tuesday and getting a bone graft.

it was stupid to ask newschoolers what was wrong, but it took so long for them to figure it out I was about to go crazy.

well, no swimming/biking/running pretty much anything for me the first half of summer!

if anyone wants some crocheted headbands give me a shout haha.

when i was in 6th grade i had horrible pain throbbing in my ankle, the doctors couldnt find out what it was when they x-rayed it. but later on they x-rayed my actual foot and found out i had an extra bone in there. go figure. i cant get it removed cause a main tendon in my foot runs over the bone and if its cut i will have floppy foot. so i live in pain. cheers!

no clue, im saying dumb luck.

the short form for what it is, is ABC, Anyersomething Bone cyst. Apparintly it normally only happens in big bones, so lucky me I got it in my foot.

These bizarre medical mysteries make me question my livelihood.

Can I has crocheted headband? I'll even send a sase. And a get well card.
