Westminster College

It's a school you attend. And some dope movie premeirs are going to be held there this year. For more info maybe post in the regional forum.

you've never been to salt lake city, have you? everyone has these crazy ideas of what utah's like. the thing is, they apply to southern idaho, not utah.

no, the mormons are not a problem.

and westminster's not bad. i go there.

haha, yeah. It sucks that people from other states put down utah because of the mormon population. It really isn't that bad. And not near as bad as the southern babtists in Atlanta. You can't even buy beer there on sunday.

but it dosen't matter, they keep other people out of this wonderful state.

personnaly for what its worth i would still stay out of Utah, i mean there are better school to go to if you just are interested in skiing. i also might add that Utah's laws against things such as possession are much harsher and strict than anywhere else. so i mean if you don't drink, and you don't smoke, or you're not worried about having a criminal record, by all means go. you can say what you want if you're from Utah but the Mormon religion runs your state weather you know it or not. i mean personally i like being able to walk into the liquor store and not have to deal with cops and such. enjoy the man being everywhere.

I'm actually at JFK airport right now waiting for my flight to slc and i move in at westminster on saturday, i can't wait

haha who cares if there's a cop near the liquor store? yeah the mormons run the state but it's seriously not that bad. i'm from ny - the bars in my county close at 1:00. in salt lake they're open til 2. in pennsylvania you can't buy alcohol at grocery stores or gas stations. in a lot of states you can't buy alcohol on sundays.

as for the 3.2 beer, not a big deal at all. basically, 13 "utah beers" is equivalent to 12 out of state. also, local beers measure by weight instead of volume, so it's really about 4.0. and there are some really really good local beers that are as much as 6.0.

wait a second, i changed my mind.

Utah sucks completely and totally. NOBODY COME HERE!

And if you're here already and don't think it's that bad, YOU'RE WRONG! IT IS THAT BAD! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! THE MORMONS ARE AFTER YOU!!!

yeah. nobody come to utah. it is no good.

i got that shit to, 12 college credits and you get to ski like whoa, and a free pair of skis, sounds sick to me i might take a semester and do that but not prob til like my junior year

i got a thing in the mail today from them, talk about a marketing strategy, they're going after the skiers and snowboarders like nobodies business.

The following phrases were used on their brochure:

"The epic Utah pow pow is now accepting applications"

"land a misty flip and an internship"

"Huck. Stomp. Thrash. Shred. Apply."

"Next semester, come shred some pow pow."

"enroll today and receive free dynastar skis or a rossignol snowboard"

apparently they arrange their classes so you can fit in 50 days of skiing.

"Gloob. Sklunk. gan. Shogul. Skick. Cream-of-pow. This program is sick, we had to make up our own language to describe it."

If I'd have gotten this brochure right out of high school, i probably would have gone...

the only problem wit westminster is the mormons. i doubt a lot go to the school, but thats there homeland...

I'm seriously thinking about it. I don't want to go to college so I can spend my whole time there studying and going to classes. I want to learn what I need and prepare myself for real life.

I got one of those too, though it wouldnt benefit my major (microbiology) it is still appealing. I'm contemplating it.

I go to Westminster...I usually take night classes two days a week and ski every day.  It's a good school.  You don't need to do the Winter at Westminster program to ski a lot.  It's $3200--you could buy a sled for that much.  They just go to the mountains together every weekend and do other winter activities like biathalon and bobsledding that you would probably skip anyway if it was a powder day. And you can take Avalanche Safety classes for school credit without Winter at Westminster, and you can get discounts on season passes and gear from Autumn Garage through the ski club.
