Been living in CB for going on ten years. CB resort is great when there is snow, the terrain is killer and from what I can see the park is getting better every year (I'm old and my body doesn't enjoy the pain the the park can inflect), however tickets are pricey and resort upper management is somewhat of a joke (to say the least), but I believe the college pass is still reasonable (under $500). The town is always a good time and the the weed is pretty darn good. As far as getting here from gunni you have a few options. Makes friends with someone who has a car and likes to skip class to go ski, take the bus, or hitch.

So I (like every one else in CB) work more than one job. I work full time for a landscaping company in town (we move snow in the winter), and I also bar tend a few nights a week. As far as girls go............... it's pretty rough up here in CB basically find a girl you like and take a number. However, I just read an article in the local paper saying something about Western having more girls than boys enrolled for the first time ever for this years freshman class, so you might be in luck.

when my mom went there, she made it dubbed "wasted state". yes, it was mostly her doing. i plan on going there as well

Yeah I prefer Gunnison to Summit any day of the week. I prefer the slow pace of life and the quiet living to the hustle and bustle of summit. I can think of six stop lights in all of Gunnison county compared the 126 million that I can see from I-70 as i drive past the summit county exits. I like not having fast food chains,shopping outlets, and strip malls, and for the most part I like being located in the middle of nowhere. But hey thats just one mans opinion, if it was up to me I would skip the college thing and proceed directly to being a ski bum in the middle of nowhere.

easily the best 4 years of my life, just make sure you go to class, i didnt last more than 2.5 years haha. I love CB so much, wish it was easier to live there or i never would have left! 3 jobs is just too much sometimes! I say go for it man, western was actually a pretty sweet school. As far as the girls thing, they're around might have to drop your standards a tiny bit but...mountain women tend to be worth it if you can find one that shreds. As far as the party scene...its called wasted state for a reason

western is dope, i grew up in cb, went to boulder for school and shredded summit for the last 5 yrs or so and got so fed up with summit and the front range i moved back. this was my 1st semester at western and i loved it, the commute between cb and gunni isnt too bad, and everyone is stoked on skiing! not a lot of talent compared to boulder in the ladies department, but there are are some lookers wandering around and most of them seem way cooler, interested, and down to earth than the sorostitutes i encountered at CU.not to mention cb has the best ski shop ever, stop by Colorado FreeSkier at the base area and say whats up if you're in town!
epic terrian and unmatched bc access compared to most of co, especially if you own a sled.
oh ya its great if you like to party, not like aspen/breck's epic nightlife, but pretty damn fun nonetheless, and the weed is great too.
