Does anybody go to this school or is going. I am thinking of going next fall and was wondering how the school was and also the skiing. I know crested Butte is a 1/2 hour away. Just wanted to know what other people thought of this school.
 
My sister was thinking about going there but all i heard was it had some nice dormrooms. too bad she doesnt ski
 
my sis lives in CO in leadville, she doesn't ski park but for all mountain she says crested butte is her favorite and she's skied pretty much every mountain out there cuz she's been there for three winters now. in the screenplay teaser they did an urban rail there and skied a lot in the area I dunno who made that movie but you could prolly ask them about the skiing
 
i live in grand junction which is about two hours away from gunison, if you're into outdorsey stuff mostly, there is a ton to do, but if you like more city stuff you will be bored shitless becuase gunison is tiny.
 
Crested Butte is a great town, and people there and in Gunnison love to party. I'm sure you've heard that Western State is often referred to as Wasted State...so there's plenty of partying to go around. I'm not sure about academics which is definitely an important factor, but as far as the surrounding area and social life goes it's pretty damn good.
 
Wasted state is a pretty good school. My buddy James just transfered there. It is not a very well respected school as far as academically but the skiing is dope. there are no hot girls there and there is very little to do in terms of city things but you can fish and hike and shit.
 
that sums it up pretty well. Western's alright, it get's very cold and windy at times. Crested Butte is like a half hour away. The school really belongs up in crested butte, as CB has much more to offer than Gunnison. Don't major in recreation though, the're big on that, but it's a worthless degree. Classes are pretty easy too. I went there for two years untill transfering to UCD.
 
In that old freeze college ski guide, the description was, "If you forgot to go to high school, check out western state"
 
gunni is fuckin sick i go there and ski everyday. breaking tripple digets in days at cb is a easy thing to do when your there
 
^shit dude thats ridic. i dont know i've pretty much heard from a close guy friend that there are no females and that its not very esteemed academically. i mean if your going to go to college to ski alot, i would reccomend you go there. but if you want an education i would suggest looking elsewhere.

I'm about to graduate from Western.  It's a pretty decent shool, but doesn't get the respect as other major colleges is Colorado do.  I've been in the valley for 5 years now, and pretty much ready to get the hell out of here and move to SLC.  If you are looking for a huge party scene and hot babes, it's not the place for you.  If you want to ski a lot and get really drunk with the same people all the time, you found your match.  As for the recreation department, the Ski and Resort Management is more of a business major, but the other stuff in the department is kind of lame.  The film department is pretty decent if you want to make action sports films for a living.  
 
brooke moran is the devil. she was my prof for 189 and treated me like i was 5 because i already new what she was teaching.
 
LOVE! but its true your not the only one who's said that.....and you are picky. but its okay you have the right to be picky with your girls.
