West Coast Mountain Biking

Mountain bikers of NS, I am planning a road trip this July along the west coast (see map)and I am bringing my bike. I was wondering if anyone knows of some sick trails or spots to mountain bike along the route. I am really stoked to explore trails so if anyone has some suggestions that would be great. Down hill, cross country, all mountain, dirt jumps' whatever.

called google. use it. why even plan out such an awesome road trip if you have no idea where you want to go? that's half the fun of a road trip is planning it out yourself and researching shit. i mean you're driving through some of the best states for MTBing and you'd rather stick to the coast? come on now...

A must in Oregon, Black Rock. Outside of Dallas, OR. Google it for directions. I met Sage Cattabriga there (claim).

Another decent spot, Rocky Point in the West Hills outside of Portland.

There are also trails in Hood River but that's a little off your planned route.

who goes in a forum devoted to topics that are unrelated to skiing and expects there to be information only relevant to a "ski site"

"hey guys i know this site is mainly filled with skiers and even though there are other, bigger sites devoted to exactly what i'm asking, i thought this would be my best chance to get an answer..."

This is retarded, why would you go inland? You have some of the sickest trail all up the coast. Fist you hit up santa cruz, go surfing and hit some of the sickest dirt jumps and loam trails in the country, just ask cam McCaul. Then travel North, Hit Organ coast, go surfing again and hit some DH & freeride. Head to Seattle, hit the same trails that the transisiton bikes are tested on. Into Canada, hit the shore (my home forever) hit Seymour, Fromme, cypress. Then hit the dark side (illegal trails, only the locals can talk to you about those, no info from bike stores) but for the 3 above fromme, cmore, and cypress are all legal and bike stores will tell you exactly how to get to the trails. Once your done with that, Farther North and hit the sickest bike park in the world and try to catch it around the time of crankworks. Your plan in impeccable, just talk to bike stores & locals. Also bring a surf board caus thats I sick sport aswell

you go inland because there's a TON more riding to be had than just on the coast.... a lot more riding. you're only touching what? 1/12th of his planned road trip? being the other 20 hours of driving of little to no biking at all. great plan. go for it.

dude you shouldnt have even quoted me to type this because it isnt related to what i posted and is nothing like the copy i made of your post

and my guess is that hes going on a fucking badass roadtrip and wants to do some mountain biking on the side. hes probably not going on a fucking mtb centered trip and the entire west coastline is beautiful and i can see why he would want to travel along it so give him some slack and fuck off

Whistler is the place to go if you can make it. Northstar up in Tahoe is pretty good and Mammoth is fucking awesome. From CA up to BC you will find the best mountain biking in North America.

Can't tell if you're actually headed to Van. Island or if that was just because its a loose drawing but if you do there is some fun x-country stuff in the Snowden forest (Comox valley area). They can get decently technical and are almost always near-empty.

I believe Timberline on Mt. Hood will have a lift access bike park this summer. Bring your skis too and ski in the morning haha. Once you get to Washington:

-Tiger Mountain. The south side has a fun 10ish mile loop. Up a short steep fire road climb then a super fun rock garden strewn descent.

-Duthie Hill Mtb Park. Opened last summer and is really sick. Has everything from big freeride stunts to xc trails. It's also pretty close to Tiger Mtn.

-South Seatac Park. Just south of Seattle. Has a really fun twisty little spiderweb of singletrack with freeride style jumps and drops at the south end.

-Colonnade Bike Park. In Seattle underneath the freeway, so it's good for all weather. You can take an exit that puts you right there. Has jumps and drops, great pump track, and trials stuff. Not big but pretty cool. Probably won't last you more than a couple hours, but it's literally right underneath I-5.

-There are DJs at Green Lake Park in Seattle if I'm not mistaken, not too far from Colonnade and downtown.

-Steven's Pass might have a bike park this summer. There are still lawsuits and crap pending but if it happens...

-Galbraith Mtn. Near Bellingham. Supposed to be really sick big freeride trails. Don't know much about it though since I've never been.

That's all I can think of right now. There are supposed to be some exits off I-90 that have some nutty DH stuff but I don't know anything at all about that. Other people who are more into it can tell you more.

Hope this helps.

If you PM me I can help you out. I grew up just north of San Francisco in Mill Valley, where mountain biking was invented. I can definitely help point you in the right direction for your Bay Area part of the trip.

collonade in seattle (you will literally drive over it anyway), duthie hill, gailbraith, hood river (post canyon),sandy ridge trails, windells, Bend if you can make it out there, black rock, timberline is getting a mtb park, skibowl, black rock, tons of skateparks...

Dude I don't live out west or mountain bike but just this post telling you to leave seems like more help than any of your posts.

epic. I am actually going to comox because my uncle lives there and i was counting on crashing at his house. thanks.
