We're spoiled

i was talking to my bro (whose a damn good skater, and hes really into filming and editing) and i was showin him some ski videos and some trailers. He was totally impressed and said that no skating videos have the same caliber of cinematography/editing that ski videos do. I think we all kinda take for granit how sick our videos are, and how well done they are made.

I always thought skate/snowboard videos were the best, but maybe skiing has caught up in the past couple years. I know the movies have definitely made some major improvements, but it's cool to know that they may even be better than skate videos now.

watch a transword skate video such as modus operani, feedback, or the reason. they turn skateboarding into art. the filming, editing, and music is on a much higher level that i havent seen in any ski movie yet. as far as videos like 411, they are all crap, but if you give transworld videos a chance, you will see skate videos in a new light.

Skiing/boarding videos are better in my eyes for one reason: Skiing has a season. Theres a limited time for filmakers to get thier shots and produce the movie, and all ski movies tend to come out around the same time of year. This creates fierce competition between these companies, and producers know they have to be the best out of the 10 movies being released. It causes them to strive to make the best possible to attract the audience.

In skating however, there is no season, and skate video's come out whenever. Thus, as long as you release yours, no matter how good it is, it will probably get bought if its the newest thing out. Thus, the quality doesnt have to be so good, because you arent competing.

I guess its like natural selection when you think about it, kinda funny.

hahahaha sooooooooo awful, like watching a bunch of kids get drunk and act like hardcore douchebags for 45 minutes...

yes, we are spoiled. We have a limited season to get the shots but they make sure they are the better and better year after year.

because skiing need good cinematography cause everything is huge and it have to be filmed correctly to lok sick.

skating is rediculous no matter how you film it

I'm glad you tacked that on at the end.

I'm going to go watch AfterLame, and then play some poker.

Cya dudes.

I don't know about "unheardof" film gets used, but digi is pretty heavy. People with the budget shot some film too.

this is a very good point,

ski resort change there parks every year

and in the back country the snow pack and when and where the snow fell changes each location every single year, making it new and orignal

true to that...Volcom's "Chicagof" was shot all in film. A fine movie too, and an example of a movie that ignored the "skate video" look.

rollerblade videos are way better. much better shots, follows, and the editing is way above anything in skiing. not to mention each thing they do makes me shti my pants

thats a tough call, it really depends on the movie, some ski movies would be way better than some skate vids, and visa versa

if im not mistaken bristol rider is ahmet didali(sp) and in the ns interview he said he doesnt skate. but he could have picked it up since. any ways, roller blading is deff a legit sport and those guys have skill. this is coming from a skateboarder who grew up with only skateboarders making fun of roller bladers. so saying that rolling blading is for faggots is just ignorant.

ski movies are soo dope but snowboard movies in my opinion have been better in the past few years
