Wells Lamont Quality

Always loved the brand and been a fan of their stuff but this year their gloves really took a downturn in quality. These gloves used to last forever and now I see them with stitching ripping out before I even use them. Really sad to see these issues with such a cool brand and I can’t say I’ll ge buying their stuff again.

Same exact thing with my brand new WL mitts. First pair arrived with a massive hole in the left-hand middle finger liner, had to return. Picked up a replacement pair, and I think they're already starting to go in the same spot. Super bummed because otherwise they're phenomenal.

I remember these were the "go to" for lift operators as well as rope tow enthusiasts, it's unfortunate to hear that corners are being cut

When did this happen? I got a pair 3 years ago and besides leather ware, they’re still flawless, the surprisingly most durable mitten I’ve owned.

I think they made the change for this year’s gloves. Can’t find any of the old style anywhere. I’m gonna start riding Kincos once my wells wear out because I doubt the new ones will last a week on Hyland’s rope

I run kincos, really solid but my issue is that the spot for putting a glove leash on always breaks for some dumb reason

Was in a shop this weekend that carried them, I’ve been wanting to buy the guide mitts this year but the new ones in the store seemed so much cheaper with thinner leather and insulation than my pair that’s a few years old

First pair in December, 2nd pair this week.

My roommate works at a backcountry shop and the Wells Lamont dudes came in to do some sale or something and I stopped by to drop off some skis after they left. They had a pile of the new WL finger mittens, which I have but an older pair. When I initially bought them because of how supple the leather felt when I found them in a store I was browsing but the new stuff that the WL dudes dropped off is a totally different leather. Feels way worse and more plasticy or something.

I got a pair of the first Level 1 collab mitts and other than being dirty from me owning them for so long theyre still warm, still waterproof and have no holes so that sucks to hear

Bummer to hear this. I have a pair in rotation that competes with my Hestra, and Oyuki mitts.

that's really unfortunate to hear because i want to like wells lamont

it'd take a lot to get me fully off the kinco train though. my gloves were literally $30, they're perfect, and despite being my dog's favorite toy, they hold up super well

Update: Replacement pair came apart in the same spot. Got 2 days out of them.

Hunted down some old stock of a different style, hoping it's the good build quality. If these suck too, I'm jumping ship to Kinco.
