Wells Lamont quality gone downhill?

Been rocking a pair of wells lamont mittens for the past year or so and they were starting to get beat up so I ordered a new pair, specifically the Level 1 collaboration.

I got an XL and they are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than my previous XL pair and even my roommates Large pair. Whatever maybe they’ll stretch out right?

3rd lap down the hill with them I noticed a huge hole in the liner on the end of one of the fingers, and every time I take off the mitten more insulation comes out.

anyone else experience this? hoping I got a defective pair but it would really suck if they’re stuff is just trash now.

Sad to hear. There was another thread on it too. Wells Lamont was on their shit for a minute…

Exact same thing happened to me with 2 pairs of XL Working Man mitts this January. Left middle-finger liner completely came apart within 1-3 days on hill.

The Lifty mitts are holding up a bit better, but the liner's starting to come apart in the left index finger with 4-5 days on hill.

Sucks to say, but I think WL is just junk now. Gonna grab Kincos and return all my WL. Would have much rather WL bumped prices and kept the same construction/quality than start making this garbo. Returning all this junk is getting old fast.

the new leather they are using is complete junk and like half the thickness and the stitching is awful, really bummed out about it because I wanted to get the guide mitt this year until I saw a new one in a store. Other than kincos what options are there? the flylows dont look like a huge upgrade over kincos, hestras the best option?

Hestras are above and beyond my favorite gloves. I'm on my third pair over roughly ~15 years. All have held up great and are far warmer than anything else I've seen. Worth the price for sure.

Even though I never seem to misplace my Wells Lamont gloves or my horrible old joystick mittens that came free with some poles I just know the second I spend the money on some hestras I'm gonna drop them off a lift or leave them on a tail gate when I drive away.

I just bought a pair of the Wells Lamont X Level 1 and have had no problem with them except the fact that they were pretty tight but they stretched out over time. Im just guessing thats because they are made out of leather but they keep my hands super warm.
