Well, steelers fans

It's going to be a rough year, but overall it probably is for the best. They'd been aging pretty badly for the last few years but had kept it together enough to ensure that they never had really high draft picks. Obviously the NFL isn't quite in the same league as the NBA in quick turnarounds through drafting an impact player or two, but top 5/37 draft picks are more likely to put them back on track for winning than fighting for a wildcard spot and probably coming up a bit short.

Fuck the Steelers. Any bad shit that happens to them is deserved because of superbowl XL. Fuck those bitches

Right? I knew the Steelers were going to have a tough year (didn't think it's be this bad), but what the hell happened to the Giants?

It is incredibly depressing being a giants fan this year. I had real hopes for last weekend. Heck, maybne they'll win their final 10 games, then go on to win the superbowl again. weirder things have happened...

I'm a saints fan and they started out the same way last year, nobody seemed to care much but it helps if you drink a lot during games

The Steelers let all their talent age at once. Lamarr Woodley, Larry Foote, Troy P, Big Ben, Ryan Clark, Ike Taylor, Brett Keisel, Heath Miller, those are all big name franchise players, and theyre all over 30. Which means that in the next 2-4 years, they'll all be retiring, and unless the Steelers can find some real talent in the draft or free agent market, they will continue to not make the playoffs. The Bengals, Browns, and Ravens (even though they are also an old team) all have a better balance of age for their best players, so they will all be competitive within the AFC East. I also see Chicago suffering the same fate as well as the Falcons. Unless they all get younger at a lot of key positions, none of them are going to see long term success.

The opposite of this are the Chiefs and Dolphins. Both sucked pretty bad the last few years, but both have a lot of young talent with a few veteran leaders which is leading them to success. Other teams built like this are San Diego, Detroit, and even the Bills, and all of them will see long term success.

Maybe the Steelers front office will catch on and find better young talent, or maybe they will construct another bright team that will age at the same time, but either way it looks like they might be stuck losing for a few years.

So watch the Penguins and Pirates, and let my Seahawks and Dolphins shine.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you here, but age is not the problem with Pittsburgh. It definitely contributes to their D not being as dominate as it was 5 or so years ago, sure. But the main problems with this team are their non-existent O line, and Todd Haley being the Offensive Coordinator (8 - 12 since he's had that job, terrible)

Detroit is the oldest team in the league BTW.

yeah, but their best long term franchise players aren't. Stafford is young, And Reggie Bush and Calvin Johnson are both in their 20's, as well as Suh, Nick Fairley, Ansah, Stephen Tulloch (LB), Chris Houston (CB, for those who don't know), Glover Quin (S) , Louis Delmas (S). Most of their old players on kind of Non factors, while the Steelers actually have a young average age, all their impact players are old. And Roethlisberger has been getting injured much more as of late, and its been affecting him much more than his injuries did early in his career, just look at all the fumbles hes had lately. Bringing in a short throw/west coast O. Coordinator doesn't help when you have a gunslinger like Ben, and fast receivers like Brown and Sanders. Mike Martz would have been much better for them, as well as a real o-line and running back to get the run game and play action going, which is what made them good before.

Haha, love that guys enthusiasm. Couple things:

First - "There shall be no interference with a forward pass thrown from behind the line. The restriction for the passing team starts with the snap.

Actions that constitute offensive pass interference include but are not limited to:

(b) Initiating contact with a defender by shoving or pushing off thus creating a separation in an attempt to catch a pass."

Clearly offensive pass interference by rule, not sure how you can say otherwise.

Second - I agree that Ben was not in the end zone and to this day cannot believed it was ruled a touchdown. But, remember, that was on first down. Not saying that is a reason to give Pitt a TD, because it's not, but thinking that they couldn't punch it in with Bettis with 2 more downs from 3 inches out is ridiculous and definitely not a reason to say the Seahawks were robbed.

Third - Blaming a holding call you can't even find footage of? Give me a break. Holding calls and missed holding calls go for and against both teams in every single game.

The problem here is that for the final game-winning touchdown by Heinz ward he pushed off much more flagrantly:

Skip to 2:14 to see the holding call here:

Plus I think the argument is two fold: a that it wasn't called fairly (seahawks were called on things the steelers weren't called on) and the other argument was that you don't call "ticky-tacky" (not my word) calls that are questionable in the super bowl (again, not my words).

Seahawk fans. It was 8 years ago... Let it go

The Steelers didn't pay the refs to make the terrible calls so why do you hate the Steelers so much? The Seahawks have had good teams since then but they all choke.

Sack up and shut up about something that happened 8 years ago.

Go Bucs.

AS A MASSIVE HAWKS FAN, we need to drop it. Its over. Many games have been determined by bad reffing, but it has never changed the result. All the whining won't turn us into superbowl victors. How a bout we just support the very promising team we have now?

yeah-- no. I mean I certainly do not bring it up....ever. But if someone wants to talk about, I'm going to reply. That's all.

Until we win a superbowl, its a sore spot-- we've never won a superbowl. I think some fans of other teams fail to recognize that. So when you get your first shot ever after many many years, its a hard pill to swallow when it doesn't seem like the game was fair. I don't see many Seahawks fans bringing up the Steelers/Seahawks superbowl...but when the topic is brought up, they have stuff to say. That's understandable.

The video posted of the guy above is whining. Casey's post was borderline whining. My post was just stating what happened and posting some material to clear up some unknowns in the thread.

I don't need to drop anything. I will hate the steelers for the rest of my life. That's what a good rivalry is all about. One team getting robbed from something they rightfully earned, and wishing injury and misfortune on the team that jacked them.

I live with a ton of Seahawk fans and that is all they ever dwell on. I really used to like the Seahawks because when i moved to Montana i needed a team to root for and i picked the Seahawks but anytime i tell someone im from Pittsburgh that is the first thing they talk about it. It is very annoying and old.

at first I was like, whhhaaaa? really? but then you said you were from Pittsburgh and so it all makes sense. Its the first thing that comes to our minds regarding what we may have in common/have to discuss with Pittsburghers.

The other thing is...Seahawk fans are at peace with it...so long as you don't argue and say they didn't get robbed. :)

As long as you agree that they got screwed, we move on, and talk about things like rain and weed being legal.

i cant believe someone brang up the hawks. I'm a huge fan of the hawks and i was over that game and now you brang it up and im actually really pissed right now. sorry for the rant

No, will probably trade their top 3 picks for multiple 1st or 2nd round pick. Then use these picks to rebuild the D line and get some playmakers. They're not going to get Manziel because they already have a 2x Super Bowl winning quarterback in Ben Roethlesberger.

You mean 6 superbowl titles? You do know that the Steelers are 43 years older than the Seahawks as a franchise?

Nifty piece of editing right there. Does that look like OF pass interference? Definitely, but if he doesn't get thrown to than it's not a penalty. And there is zero evidence that he was involved in whatever play that was.

Check out the replay of that TD your talking about. Heinz does not touch a single player. Literally runs right passed the D for an untouched 43 yard TD.

Plus, Pitt was already up at that point, so it wasn't a "game winning" touchdown.

Seattle went 5 for 17 on third downs in that game. They gave up a 38 yard pass on something like 3rd and 35. The gave up a 75 yard run for a TD to open the second half. And they ended up losing by 2 scores. You can blame the officiating and some NFL conspiracy job, but the Steelers made big plays and Seattle didn't.

Either way, Seattle is definitely the better of the 2 franchises these past 2 seasons, and I wish you guys the best. Hopefully you get that ring this year. Lord knows the Steelers won't be there.

sorry, it was an earlier play then-- not the last one.

I didn't say game winning to imply it won the game, just to point out the last touchdown of the game.

This is what I could find online, I could not find a clip, nor any site to watch games.

9:51 in 3rd quarter: Steelers receiver Hines Ward pushes off Seahawks defensive back Kelly Herndon with a blatant stiff arm to the face mask of Herndon on a 3rd and 4 play. No penalty is called. Ward catches the pass and gains 16 yards to convert a 1st down on the play. If Seahawks receiver Darrell Jackson was called in the first quarter for pushing off when he barely touched the defender, why then is Hines Ward not called for pushing off in this instance when his violation was far more flagrant?

But why does this matter? I mean its like so what. We also beat the pat's last year and got into the playoffs off one of the worst calls ive seen, but its over and we won. And we lost the superbowl. The best thing you can do is go to CenturyLink, scream your guts out, and let the 12th man push the hawks as far as we can. Russell Wilson might help too.

I didn't say it mattered. He presented facts and I presented them back.

Dock Ellis replied to Casey stating his opinion on the controversial calls, but on the pass interference call he was stating that it wasn't a big deal because it meets the definition of pass interference, and therefore the Hawks should have no complaint. But one of the main reasons people don't think it should have been called or think it is unfair was because the pass interference on the hawks was minimal and for a touchdown, while a much more flagrant pass interference by the other team wasn't called on a 16 yard gain.

I just mentioned that since his post didn't take that into account. You can't write a post to tell the Seahawks fans to quit whining and then mention facts that fail to acknowledge why they're actually whining. He then stated that there was no proof Ward was even passed to in the play, so I showed him what evidence I could find.

It is a conversation. I didn't say it mattered, nor am I upset. He stated why the complaints of Hawks fans don't have merit, and I was simply providing the evidence that was left out.
