Well, my snowboard got stolen...

So its time to get my first pair of skis!

Problem being I have no idea what I need. I am 5ft 10in 145lbs. Looking for park skis/bindings/boots. Hopefully all around $600. I am also looking for information on din settings and where to mount bindings.

Thanks in advance!

I'm doing the same thing as you, except my board didn't get stolen. I just wanted to have more ways to look kinda dumb. I'm the same height as you, and 10ish pounds less.

For boots, they should be your first purchase priority. Having shitty boots blows and I found that they need to match you, the way you ski, and how you are built WAY more than snowboarding boots do. Picking ski boots should be a much more involved process.

For bindings, I just picked up a pair of FKS 120 because I wanted to get into some more freestyle oriented stuff, and I didn't need anything near the higher DIN of the 140 or 180. My DIN is set at like, 5 right now. I'd assume you're right near there.

Skis, I can't help much. I bought some 122 underfoot twin tip powder skis, which is a really funny joke given the snow this year, but they actually ride pretty damn well on groomed snow, all things considered.

Hope I could help a little man! Don't stop snowboarding by the way, it's too much fun.

Spend most of your money on boots and bindings because they are the most important. For your size, a 171 cm ski would be good. If you are just starting out, don't crank your din's all the way up. Center mounted bindings are usually the best for park skis.

Welcome to Newschoolers,by the way.

Spend $550 on boots and buy some used skis on craigslist. Don't waste anytime with a low end boot and go straight for a custom fit boot with custom foot beds. Its costly but you are doing a 5-10 year investment where board boots just kinda explode after a year or two. After you get boots go on craigslist and look for some older twin tips or even bum skis from your buddies.
