Looks like as my training comes to an end here in the Air Force, and as I prepare to take my journey into the operational active military I have received my first copy of official orders. Found out that I will be sent to Spangdahlem Air Base located in Germany. I will be assigned to the 52nd Civil Engineering SQD. To which is a Red Horse squadron....MEANING THAT I will spend 6 months in Spangdahlem, then 6 months deployed to Durkadurkastan. Six on and six off for 2 years. Then after that who knows where to! So stoked to be able to do this and finally get deployed! I can't wait. Will be finishing up my technical training here at Sheppard AFB in roughly two weeks and then it's home for a month!

Speaking of Germany, does anyone know of any dope places to ski in the central western area of the country? thanks.

PEACE OUT NS STAY CLASSY!

If you find a fat chef in an army base, around 6'4", give hima royal punch in the face will you... take a pic of him before you do so i can confirm it's the right guy. k thanks.

Stay safe man, I have so much respect for anyone that serves in the military.

Hope you also have a smooth transfer to Germany

Spang is a great base, and everyone seems to love their time in Red Horse. Spang is small, but very close to Trier for a nice genuine German experience. If you road or mountain bike, the trails are basically unlimited around there. Closest skiing is probably going to be Garmisch, but there are so many cool places you have to hit up in the Alps that I wouldn't limit yourself to one resort. Spend the money and travel!

Have fun and enjoy your free time between that heavy ops tempo's rage. The only way to see Europe is to live there. Spend all the money you can spare to make sure you never sit on your ass, because regardless you will come home and realize you should have seen more!

i dare you to kick a random german it the sack while yelling USA USA USA. that would be great. also stay safe. and blow shit up. put an ns sticker on a plane and or/ missile. and your flying helmet if thats what your doing.

YOU ARE THE MAN!!! AMERICA FUCK YEAH LAY SOME CIVIL ENGINEERING PIPE TO THEM GERMAN SLORS AND SKI WITH GERMAN PEOPLE AND EAT WEINERSCHNITZL

thank you for your service!

are you a pilot?

And when you are in durkadurkastan, make sure you say "durka durka mohammed ali" at least once for team america!

Never saw team America but I know the people in the Service I work with are not allowed to post on the internet where they are being deployed, even if it may be (semi) obvious sometimes.

What do I know though.

you should come visit me at my military base in Stuttgart Germany. we shouldnt be to far away. i can take you skiing and show you all the alps.

Twin Tip Hero, fuck yeah! goin out to save the mother fucking day yeahTwin tip Hero, fuck yeah! freedom is the only way yeah!
God bless you my man and thanks

dude you are so lucky to be deployed in germany. OCTOBERFEST!!!!

there is so much good beer around there, germany has some good shit, then austria isn't to far away which is awesome.

my dad was stationed in aviano in italy, and they would make trips across the border all the time to get beer. pluss in that leave you can do whatever you want. my dad spent two octobers in germany at octoberfest. but beware they serve their beer room temp, i like mine cold but hell after a few you don't care any more.

have fun, and you can always go skiing depending on when your leave is.

He says in his post that he is works in a Civil Engineering squadron, so he either does construction with Red Horse or if he is an officer he is essentially a project manager who has an engineering degree of some sort.
