Welding edges....

So I got an edge crack underfoot (bound to happen, I know) and I don't want it getting worse. Could I weld it back together and just file down the excess? Or should I just leave it be and hope it doesn't get worse. I know cracks aren't really a problem unless they pull out, but is welding a good preventative idea?

uhhhhh.....origional idea there... but i could imaging it may fuck ur skis in other ways with all that heat and may ruin other stuff like melt shit. if u have an older pair of skis just try it on them! but most edge cracks dont get much bigger...just file it down so it dosent catch or anything like that

That may or may not induce some base melting, which will kill it's ability to keep any wax. I'd assume the heat from a welder isn't that localized but I've never used one so I could be wrong. I guess as long as you avoid cooking the base and don't alter the edges to a worse state then you're fine.
Also, there must be a reason this isn't done more often.

you could try gurilla glue and then sand down the excess. Thats what I normally do for topsheet damage, but i imagine it'd work for an edge. as long as you dont get too much on the base....
