pretty much, plus a 40 foot urban down rail...

we wanted people to be able to hit this set up again because a lot more tricks can be thrown than what were at the sunset jam.

omg grr i wish i culd go..... i live 45 mins south of the wis/illinois border, so thts like a 12 hour drive 4 me

does the 20 bucks include food? or is that separate?

and there's no lift ticket cost right?

and...is there a tow rope to get back to the top or what? (i've never been to welch)

thanks

i'll probably go home this weekend like friday night and then come back to duluth on saturday if anyone needs a ride.

Why is there no dragon tail? I love that dragon tail so much and I finally had consistency on it too.. I vote to include the dragon tail on the setup

why in the holy twat couldnt we have a 40 ft urban down rail durning the actually season....blah oh well this will be so epic

We will be connecting our two double barrel flat rails to make this. Sorry that we could not do it during the regular season, we were to busy making other rails and other stuff. I think it was fun having two flat rails in a line though, more hits in a line = more fun. Sorry Zak, I hope you still love us.

i have a fricken wedding to go to. i was so pumped for the smud fly this year, last year was so much fun...... and i have prom on tyrol spring jam...

With just a little over a week away, here is the snow update at Welch Village.

By the looks of it, we are going to have easily more snow then what we had last year.

Bring on the amazement.

im thinking of going, 1 hour drive, 1 hour and 30 mins of guarenteed skiing, gas plus 20 dollars. Is there a sesh after finals for all of us who arnt amazing at rails?

-Helmets are *not required* but strongly recommended

-There will most likely be a short session after the competition, while we decide on winners and sort out the prize money.

*CHANGE IN RULES*

Information and the waiver form for the Welch Village Smud Fly is now available on our website: www.welchvillage.com.

There are a couple of items that might get your attention. First, we are requiring all competitors to wear helmets. This is just becoming a reality in the ski industry and you might as well get used to it. You are going to start seeing this requirement at all year round events, at all ski areas, sooner rather than later.

Second, if your are under 18 years of age, your parent/guardian has to be here to sign the waiver. If your parent/guardian cannot be here, then you have to get it notorized. Notorized simply means that your parent goes to your local bank or post office and signs the form infront of a person called a "Notary Public". After this person sees your parent sign it, they put a stamp on it and you're good to go. That's it. All banks and post offices have a Notary Public person.

We look foward to seeing all of you at Welch for the Smud Fly...it's going to be a blast. There is still a lot of snow on the ground here. If you have any questions....send them to welchguy.

So does anybody else prefer to ride rails with fat skis? I've noticed I am waaaaay more confident and feel waaay more consistent on rails and boxes with my melees than I ever was with my chronics, so I'll probly be the only skier with 120mm underfoot...

probably. i'm sure they'll handle the slush better as well. the only thing i'd be worried about is speed. if you get too much gunk build up on them they'd probably go slower. but the syffers can put on a good event so you shouldnt worry about anything besides drinking too much red bull and making your heart explode.
