Weird Delam With ON3P's Underfoot, How to Fix it?

So I disastered a rail and noticed this when I came home:



The base and edge have separated from the sidewall and seems to have exposed the core along the ski. Totally my fault for skiing rails the way I do, just want to get some advice on how to fix it. I was thinking I could just epoxy it, clamp it and file it down until it's all even but any other suggestions are welcome.

We build skis with edges and base that are about 40% thicker than the industry standard. But if not detune correctly, or even just hit incorrectly, ski edges can crack. As you can see here, the UHMW sidewall took the impact no problem, but the edge didn't.

Edge cracks are inevitable, but water damage is what destroys a ski. So, at the very least, use a good two-part epoxy (I suggest West Systems G-flex) to seal the rail damage and close the gap between the edge and sidewall. Done right this will extend the life of the ski just as if it wasn't cracked in the first place.

If you are not comfortable with this - email me scott@on3pskis.com - and send them back to our factory and we will fix the skis for you, free of charge, detune them, and ship them back to you on ON3P's dime.

Edge damage is just a part of life, but if we can help extend the life of your skis, we will gladly do so at no cost to you.

If you have questions as to how to proceed, I am working tomorrow from 8am until about 3pm tomorrow so give me a call (July 4th, go America!!! - ask for Scott). If you are busy, then we are normally at the ON3P factory from 7am until 7pm Mon-Fri. While the crack is pretty solid, especially for the edge we use, the edge around it seems to have a lot of life left, so we should be able to fix this for you and have you back up and running in no time.

Thanks for the offer and advice man. I've got a friend who's a pretty good tech so the two of us plus this advice should be able to fix it ourselves. I always detune my edges but shit like this just happens sometimes so no worries. I really appreciate the quick reply, the skis are incredible I'm just hard on my gear, this is wayyy better than what happened last time I disatered with my old skis.

Nice. Well if you friend is a good tech, they should be able to fix it up. Let us know if you want to send some scrap edge out there (as we use a thicker profile that standard), as sometimes it is just easier to reset a new piece of edge in there.
