I broke my ankle in 3 places and couldnt walk for 4 months had to sit on a couch i got high all the time and ate a bunch of bad food. not saying i was in great shape before but i want to lose like 10-15lbs. i just started working out again like 2 weeks ago because everything feels healthy. i usually ride a stationary bike inside where its kinda warm for like 30 minutes and then left weights for a little bit. i have also been trying to eat healthier lots of stuff low in calories and higher in protein.

any suggestions to losing wait or maybe a good workout/food routine?

Those are all good ideas, but another one you can add is eating about 5 to 6 smaller meals during the day. What that does, is it keeps your matabolism constantly burning and working to burn more calories. In the small meals eat things like fish, rice, salads, lean meats (grilled chicken) you can also have a small steak with some cottage cheese.

As for workout you are doing the right thing with cardio, you can eventually work your way up to 45 minutes to an hour.

As for weights do lighter weights for tone, you want to thin out not bulk up on top of what you have.

Hope that helped and good luck.

ya i forgot about trying to eat 6 smaller meals a day i will start doing that fo sho. ya i life small weights im not trying to get big. being big sucks for skiing lol

try only eating once a day and not drinking beer. i stopped drinking beer over the winter and lost 12lbs in about two months. the eating once a day thing was already a habit of mine, though. so yeah, down to 146lbs soaking wet.

DO THIS ^ and...

When you wake up in the morning try to drink 16-24 oz. of water, this will speed your metabolism up 20-25%.

you might try a sauna as well, even though people say its bullshit, its not it works. If you sit in a sauna for up to a half an hour you can burn 400-800 calories. Yes yo do loose a lot of water wieght, but because your hear rate rises, your burning calories.

Lots and lots of walking will do the trick too, if you can mange to do 2+hours a day you will loose a shit ton of weight.

try running too. i dont know why, but i can bike for like 30 or 45 min on a stationary bike allt he time and not loose weight. i am an increadibly inneficient runner though, so it helps to burn more calories i think. ive been doing it every day (minus weekends) for like 2 or 3 weeks now and i can already see im getting skinnier.

also if you pick up roadbiking, going for 1.5 or 2 hour rides helps so much. its kinda not worth it now since its winter but for the future its real fun

I forgot to tell you... vary your workouts, dont just stick to one routine for weeks, you can add things like swimming laps in a pool or playing a sport like volleyball or raquetball both are good for cardio and are extremely fun.

One last thing, resist the temptation of fast foods like mcdonals, burger king, wendy, taco bell, chik-filet, and all others. they may taste good but are sooo bad for you. Also resturant dining isnt the best, try to order things on helthy choice menus and low fat things.

Once again good luck and have fun with it.

Don't do a low calorie/high protein diet...

your body will see a lack of calories, and hold onto them, then see a surplus of protein and will start burning that for energy.

k... i've worked in bike shops for years. bike shops that have sold the equipment you're talking about. so, enlighten me- what the fuck is the difference between a spinner and a stationary? they're the same fucking thing.

same happened to me when i was really little, it was the time where all little kids get kinda fat before they grow a lot and i ruptured my spleen and was on the couch for 3 months and put on extra weight so i grew out of the little kid fat but had a little bit of couch fat left. i just ate well and exercised a lot, mountain and spin biking are both good, also go for runs, now i'm just average, not a lanky mo fo like some people on here but i'm not fat

^they are the same, you can do spinning on a stationary bike.

the number one way to burn body fat, is by using HIIT (high intensity interval training), it can be incorporated into most aerobic activities (swimming/running/biking...)

here's a link

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-intensity_interval_training

you can read about it all over the internet if you want. Trust me, nothing works better.

so eureka, the only exercise difference is that spinning bikes improve your pedalling technique. i ahve a feeling you didn't google it before you suggested using google...

Yeah they really are fun, if you do a spinning class especially because they play some good music (a lot of techno) and the instructors usually push you really hard. If you can complete the workouts they are so rewarding.

If your ankle can take it, I'd say jog. I have never found a better way to suck weight from all over your body. Also, who in snow sports couldn't use stronger legs???

Roughage aids in digestion and metabolism. Leafy green vegetables (kale, broccoli) are really really good to add to your diet because of the roughage they provide.

Also, check out flax, both the oil and the seed. The seed is tasteless and can be put on your food to assist in digestion and roughage.

please do no listen to this person, if you eat once a day you are probably consuming only about 1000 calories at most. you might think thats a good thing for losing weight but it way too big of calorie deficit. your metabolism will slow down to almost nothing, your body will start using muscle for energy while conserving fat for future use (catabolism) and you will have no energy what so ever.

continue eating less carbs and more protein, protein reduces cravings and keeps you fuller for longer throughout the day. also if you get bored of running for 30 minutes straight, do high intensity interval training, you go about 90 percent of your max heart rate for 1 minute and then rest for 2 and so on for about 20 minutes and will burn twice as much calories as if you just run on a treadmill because your body will adapt. also to the people who think lighter weight tones muscles, thats not true, low body fat gives you muscle tone and definition. use a weight that you can do about 10-13 reps and you will get stronger and muscle burns more calories than fat, so the more muscle you pack on the higher faster you resting metabolic rate and more calories burnt at the end of the day.

i could go on and on sorry about all the scientific shit

+karma. your post is right on. I mentioned HIIT above, you feel the results in fat loss/endurance/energy immediately. Sounds like you spend a lot of time reading about nutrition/weight training. I do too, it's amazing how many myths are out there.

yea im kinda interested in doing something in fitness for a living, it's probably the healthiest way to make a living even if the money isnt amazing

Keep doing what your doing right now. Reduce Fat and reduce carbs only a little. You cant take hydroxycut, but only if your really that desperate. I'd say take just a Protein Whey Isolate, and you'll be gold. Don't eat right before bedtime, and eat fruit in the morning. Increase your cardio a little everyday and try doing different types because they will make you lose weight in different places.

If you do all these things you will cut your shit down in no time.

i came out of college at 217 lb. im now at 175 lb. its all about high paced cardio for short bursts. sprint for a min then jog for a min. stuff like that to get your heart pumping. also eating breakfast in the morning with a big glass of water. i do oatmeal with a scoop of protien powder and a banana. then eat like every two hours through out the day and stop after dinner. 15 lbs should drop pretty fast

don't try to get low fat foods or lean meat....Animal fat helps digest protein (they are found in nature together) so your meals will go farther and you won't feel hungry as soon after eating.

I would have to disagree.

My trainer always told me to get lean meats, and to add good fats myself (almonds, olive oil, etc.).

This way, you know how much fat you're taking in. When dieting, it's all about control.

And whoever said eat once a day and don't drink beer...BAhahah.

Start popping vitamin B pills like crazy (I'm kidding sort of), and do some HIIT like others said. You should join a gym and get a program set up too. Also, a spinning bike IS a stationary bike, STFU.

just watch what you are eating, and maybe eat smaller portions

like if you are gonna get a steak at a restaurant, get the smaller one, not the big one. and just keep excercising

Progress will be slower then, and there will be more chances of giving up. It's best to see a trainer and get a pro diet and work out plan, that is proven to work.

nah man, i used to be a trainer in a gym, and basically what i told people was common sense. A lot of it is just making portions smaller, but other shit like eating fruit in the morning and not eating before bed time makes a huuuge difference. spend your money on good food and protein whey isolate instead, if you have that much disposable income find out who trains professional sports teams around where you live and go to them cause they know the most crazy shit and actually could help you.

stop the calorie intake im just eating twice a day real small stuff and find an exercise works for you.

dont be afaid to try stuff/ mix it up. i used to run and i hated it. hardest thing everyday was getting my ass out and running. started mountain biking like crazy, not only love but with diet i can see myself losing weight. find something you like to do and go for it. makes it so much easier to do.

I have been running to stay in shape while in college. I run with my room mate and my suitemate late at night at the track. When it gets super cold we plan to move into the indoor track. Let me tell you, running with friends, and some good music is so much better than running alone. Not only do I fight being lonely, I feel like I am pushed harder when I run in a group.

Make sure you buy some nice running shoes though, I am in love with my $50 asics from Dicks.

hey so ive been 200+ for a few years now and now i;m almost under 200 and what ive found help best is diversifying your sports in the off season. try longboarding around town instead of driving and mountain bike in the afternoons. Its helped me loose almost 20 lbs.

if you drink soda...cut it out of your diet....but if you drink alot...do it slowly or you will go through caffeine withdrawals and get headaches. but seriously....you have no idea how much shit is in soda...i wish i could cut it out if my diet!

and if yo want to work on muscle tone, once you finish a workout...now this is going to sound crazy....like within 30 min of your workout drink a glass of chocolate milk. like go to the store and buy a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk. it help resort some of the things you lose in your muscles when you work out. i cant think of what it is. i know it sounds silly, but that's what the nutritionist for the new england patriots told me!.....and i dont mean that as a claim....just as a validation.

yea theres whey and casein protein in the milk which your muscles need to repair themselves and there is simple and complex carbs in choco milk, it is important to get simple carbs right after a workout so your muscles can begin to repair themselves asap.

no food diet. works every time!

but for reals. everyone has different body chemistry and stuff, so different diet/workout combinations work better for some than others. generally i'd say cutting back on the amount of food one eats and adding some exercise is a good start in general.

another thing... a cardio you might actually like and is really fun and cuts you to shit is trampoline man! go out and jump on that shit, work on your skiing at the same time you do your cardio no'wa'm'sayn?

bodybuilding.com you ugly guy. stop smoking err day and get an education and try to get some muscle on those bones. pEACE #CLUB5 owns you SEMPER PARA MI DEIM
