Ok so I have been a skinny bastard all my life and it looks like I am about done growing. Does anyone have any tips on gaining weight. And I'd prefer useful help other than eat food or eat 1lb of butter 3 times a day etc. Should I just hit the gym hard, eat loads of protein, drink protein shakes, eat alot of veg etc. I am pretty sure its cos I have a fast metabolism and not cos I am the laziest bastard alive.

just eat a lot of food in general. lots of carbs and protein. then to astetic exercise. like not actually doing any work but straining yourself. like an example would be doing a curl with a weight you cannot lift try as hard as you can and then relax and do that a few times. this will build muscle and then go back and do lots of reps of light weight then that'll give you some density to those muscles

wow curling a weight that is to heavy for you and trying as hard as you can sounds like a receipt for disaster if you ask me.

its what they had me do for physical therapy but i was pushing against a wall so same thing basically. its just pushing against a wall is hard to do for all muscle groups for basically do all the normal machines with enough weight so you cant do it.

you arent going to build muscle properly if you try to lift a weight you cant. If you are a "hard gainer" just pack the complex carbs and protein and drink lots of water......if you are lifting for more endurance type strength do a variety of exercises low weight...if you are looking to get bigger faster...power lift (smaller reps heavier weight) sets of 3 or 4 with reps of 6 or 8....with heavy weight.

Always push yourself in the gym, right to your limit (of course, excercise caution). Eat lots of protein and carbs, and don't forget some fiber too.

Once you're done growing, the weight will come. At least that's what everyone tells me, I'm a skinny motherfucker with just enough muscle to make me not look unhealthy. What I do is eat a ton, and stick to that amount of calories per day. Then I work out 3-5 times a week, and HEAVY lifting, or at least as heavy as I can go in small amounts of sets. For example: my flat benchpress routine. I do 6 reps three times, with tricep workout inbetween.

I gained 15 lbs in a month and a half because of this, and I normally gain that much in a half year or a whole year.

yeah when I went into high school i weighed 104....and when I graduated I weighed 180...the weight will come..just make sure you are doing it the right way

You should've titled this muscle gain tips lol not weight gain

but anyways, just do what you said in the first post, and maybe see a trainer?

take cytogainer and work out everyday. Do 3 sets of 12reps dumbell bench for upper body with the highest weight you can and alternate everyday with parts of the body so one day legs other day upper body. Do abs everyday. You should get results at least thats what Iam doing and I built good muscle in like 3 weeks and if you continue youll get bigger.

thats true but its way easier of a diet like you dont have to choose exactly what foods you eat to have a high protien intake.

thanks bro...if you are looking to get into lifting a bit deeper....just shoot me some questions.....I can give you some great sites to get some supplements....but at the point where you are, you just need to worry about learning proper technique and diet until you start to plateau..

eat, man just eat. i used to be 117 and then i ate till i was 160 then i did a little exercise and go to a good 153

some of us just aren't meant to be huge my friend. i'm gaining weight though by working out everyday after class. alternating lifting upper and lower body per day and either biking or running everyday too. burn fat and gain muscle at the same time. and the way i lift is i start with a weight that i can pretty easily crank out 10 reps. then since i'm mostly on machines i increase by 20 pounds (the next step) and do 10 more reps. then the next time with more weight i go for 10 and once i can do 10 i start at the nex weight up. works alright for me.

If anybody has any questions about a diet or workout plan hit me up and ill try my best to help you out.....im going to school for personal training and physical therapy...so im pretty legit

i'm really skinny too. but i've found the best way for me to gain muscle weight is to simply eat constantly and work out real hard, always taking protein shakes before and after lifting to maximize muscle building and reconstruction. protein shakes really aren't that expensive. its like 10 bucks for a huge tub of the cheap stuff. which thats all you really need if you aren't using it for a diet substitute

Eat when you wake up before you go to bed while your sleeping. And when you eat. Eat allot of good food unhealthy food doesn't really do much.

The best way is to eat a lot of protein and not excersise because your body will turn it into fat. And then of course eat more fat.

yeah, you'll have awesome muscles that are totally useless for anything, sweeet!

I guess if you ever get stuck between a bunch of big stone cubes you'll be able to push your way out.

I am the same way man. I worked out heavily and ate a shitload, like 3k or more calories a day last summer and only gained 10 pounds, although that is pretty good considering none of it was fat. Then I went to costa rica and was so active I burned through all the weight I gained cause I couldnt eat enough there to sustain my crazy metabolism. So an entire summer of work down the drain.

You should just eat as many calories as you possibly can. Eat whenever you are bored and make sure you are exercising (if you arent you could become diabetic) If you are like me you probably get incredibly hungry after physical activity so you should have no problem eating a lot, just keep lots of delicious food around the house. Don't worry about fat. Eat lots of greasy meat cause its high in both calories and protein. Drink whole milk. Eat nuts, they are super high in calories too. Dont eat anything other than whole grains, it may as well be nothing but sugar to us skinny guys.

Keep any aerobic exercise to a bare minimum, its just gonna burn more calories.

honestly, don't listen to much health and nutrition facts from the people on here. you would probably have better luck and get better advice from health websites. not at of it on here is bad though.

yeah i have the same problem as you doood. what ive been doing is hitting the gym every other day, and just eat stuff even if your not even hungary. the begginging of last school year i was 510 140, and the begginging of this school year im 6'1 165

take a serving of mass xxx after you workout. thats like 740 calories i think. i took it for 2 weeks and gained like 6 or 7 lbs

my dads a doctor and he says that eating lots of protein doesn't acutally do anything for gaining muscle mass (he has another doctor he works with who is a sports coach). i'd say you'll naturally gain alot of weight just start hitting the wieght room and eat when your hungry.

Your dad's doctor is right, although I think the message was lost in translation between his doctor and you b/c what you said isn't entirely correct. Complex carbs are what build muscle. Protein assists in the repair. Too often people have glycogen depletion and they think that by pounding protein supplements it's going to get better.

The best way to put on weight is to eat lots of whole foods, train hard, and be consistent. I know kids who go balls out for 3 days, then don't eat much, then go balls again. It doesn't work.

when i started riding bikes i was maybe 110 pounds and now 2 years later im 150 so yeaaaa, thats with like 3 inches of growth but still go ride downhill everyday for 2 years

i gained 15 pounds since last december from lifting and taking this great supplement called cytogainer. cytogainer is a good safe supp. which does not give you any fat. check it out online.

protein is what builds muscle tissue....the amino acids are responsible for the maintenance and constant building of muscle. Carbs are what is needed so the body uses that instead of protein for its kcal energy conversion.
