alright... why do weekenders call themselves locals? they arn't locals, they live a few hours away in (or near) the city(s) and only come up to their cottage on weekends.

Sure they are still respected for being there eveyr weekend threwout the winter... but they arn't locals... they're weekenders.

maybe i'm one of the odd people who doesn't think it's right 'cause i've lived in this area for my whole life... but i mean, it's true...

anyone else feel the same way?

Hmmm, Im barely a weekender myself, so I can't really say. I guess weekenders can consider themselves locals sine they would probably know all the true locals. Maybe some status of local like local and true local. AHahaha

well i live in town but can only go up on weekends or the days i get off of school, i consider myself a local cuz im there every possible time.

im a weekender, but i have been goin to my mtn. every weekend in the winter for liek my whole life. and i am there all summer. but i do hate like the people that are at the mtn. on like x-mas vacation and stuff..them and their jeans and starter jackets...damn them!!!

this isnt' suposed to be directed right at you em... just find it odd how there are a lot of people claiming to be locals but live like two hours away...

and a true local is someone who's lived in the area their whole lives... some come just for the winter months (or even for just one winter)... they're locals i supose...

To hood, I would guess 'local' means under 1/2 hour away, so the people in Hood River and Rhodendron are locals. But then there are the rest of us that commute. Hood is really a commuter's mountain. Hardly anyone lives in govy, but all the people who live in rhodendron and hood river know the mountain like pros (As do a lot of commuters like myself).

Last weekend took me 1hr 15 mins to get to meadows. That was sweet - no traffic.

local eh, i dunno what to say about that, i used to live up in summit county for like 7 years so I know all the mountains and town really well but i dunno if that makes me a local, we still have a townhouse up there that i go up to whenever i can so maybe i'm a local i dunno.

I'm about 1 hr to 45 minutes away from hood, so I'm not neccisarily a local I guess, even though I go almost every single weekend of the season because I can't exactly skip school on the weekdays. What's ur point exactly? Does it matter who skis at the mountain? I mean, as long as they're good and dun piss on u or steal ur seats at lunch I think it's fine whoever goes up to the mountain.

i live like 2 hrs away from my place in NH ive been there almost every weekend since i was 4 winter and summer. It rules cause i know everyone that is a local and chill with them in the summer i climb in these super secret spots, ppl that say that its only for locals and shit suck cause there are plent of people that and just a cool

ya i live like 45 mins from my hill but im up there every single weekend from opener to closure mainly causer my bros a ski instructor and drives up every day

i live about 1.5 hours from mt.tremblant but i ski there every weekend and whenever i have off. i skipped school about 4 or 5 times this semester to go up. its not my fault i live far. if anything i think i desereve more status than locals cause i gotta go through so much shit to get there all the time.

Not all of us live right next to a ski area... it would suck if you can't be a 'local' just because you live two hours away. If you're on the same mountain every weekend, if you've got some kind of a bond to that resort... I say you're local.

what would I be considered? I live 30 minutes from all the resorts I ski at, I have skied 96 days so far this year...but i dont live at the ski resorts

eh, i think it runs a fine line...i know alot of people that travel from resort to resort, so their really not a local ANYWHERE...i spent less days this year at my local hill then i did at other resorts

people that ski a mtn every weekend and hang out afterwards, party, ect are locals in spirit, sure their drivers licence says their not frm around the mtn, but hell, if its the mtn they ski at the most, its their HOME mtn, which is pretty much being a local, except no 7 day a week commitment

i'm up in VT (ie: okemo) amost eveyr weeknd, at my house for like 16 years. i don;t consider myelf a local, butthink i help out inthe jib scene at okemo. i'm mounsouhitngton born and bread, a 5 minute walk down the road. OK theres no pointto this post, happy cinoc de mayo, i'm drunk

at my hill we dont even have a village so am i considered a local? (i live 20 min away)
